Kajang’s Famous Hot Soup at Restoran Kee V, Sungai Chua, Kajang

*VERY NON-HALAL

There’s 2 things that’s famous in Kajang.

Satay and Hot soup.

Well, of course hot soup is not halal. Hot soup is a spicy soup cooked with pork and pepper. There’s a lot of hot soup restaurants in Kajang.

To locate a famous hot soup restaurant, I tagged along Tony who was staying in Kajang for years. He recommended a few but at the end, we went to Restoran Kee V.

Restoran Kee V is located at Sungai Chua. A few minutes drive from Kajang town.

As we reached there, we took our seats and Tony made the order. He knew what’s the best food to order.

hot1

The first dish was Stir fried beansprouts with salted fish. This is a popular Chinese dish. The beansprouts were crunchy. Even though its stir fried with salted fish, it was not really that salty. Taste was just right. It compliments each other. With sprinkles of cut chili added a little bit of spicyness in this dish.

hot2

Steamed Beancurd with oyster sauce was next. For a dish like this, it will depends on the quality of the beancurd (tau fu) and the taste of the oyster sauce. A good quality beancurd will have a very smooth texture. The freshness of the beancurd plays an important role as well. With sprinkles of fried shallots and spring onions, this dish was pretty good. Oyster sauce blends in well with the beancurd.

Claypot Chicken with Chinese Special Wine. Another popular Chinese dish. This particular dish was strong in taste. The chicken blended very well with Chinese special wine. A little bit of saltiness which is common in this particular dish, the chicken was tender. Loved this.

The star of the day would be the hot soup. The soup itself is hot and slightly spicy. Eat with the pork, it tasted better. I don’t really mind adding more pepper but it depends on personal preferences on this anyways.

In general, the food was good! Service was good but the place was not air conditioned. It might get a bit hot when drinking the hot soup. The price was very reasonable. Total bill came to lesser than RM 50. I don’t mind coming to this place again.

Recommendable!!
