Restoran Yik Kee at Karak

20 September 2009 9 Comments

cantonese

Cantonese fried yee mee was the first. Firstly, “Wok hei” was there. The noodles were deep fried and then cooked together with the paste and the meat and vege. Paste was not so starchy and the noodles came with generous amount of meat and vege. Flavour was equally right.  This was good!

ostrich

It looks like beef kuey teow but its actually the ostrich kuey teow. The taste was good and the meat was tender. Not much place offered this though, normally due to special request. Marvelous!

wanton

Wanton with soup was next. Nothing to shout about, decent stuffs!

passion

Lastly we were introduced to their homemade passion fruit dessert. Suprisingly, they grew the passion fruit themselves. They had their own farm producing durians as well.

It was an amazing lunch. We got to know that they produced their own soy sauce as well. The place might be slightly old but its nostalgic.

Yik Kee is recommended!

Nice one pal! I remember those days when i was small, my family used to drive down to KL from Kuala Terengganu every school holidays.

It’s always the same restaurants for the trips and we enjoyed it nonetheless. journey starts after lunch in KT, will reach Kemaman about 2-3pm, where we stopped by the famous Kemaman Hainanese Coffeeshop for coffee break. Next will be Yik Kee for dinner about 6-7pm, they cook really nice food, and have been there ever since i recognise my way to KL. :) if you ever have the interest, there’s a shop (resraurant) at the end of the same row with Yik Kee that sells seremban siew pao, which are quite nice. :)

then all the way to KL!

Hi Wilson, know what? I used to eat there almost every week about 4-5 years ago when I used to work around Lanchang.

There was one more stall near by which was much better than this place but they changed management about 4 yrs ago.

    Anyway, great stuff!

    Regards,
    David

Looks great and tasteful the food pic that shown. Everyone can’t wait to try it up. I was first time been there on my Sept Terengganu trip with my friends. We drop by there during our journey back to KL. Firstly i walked in to the shop i saw alot of dessert, i falled in love buy 4 items and ask boss to kila before i sit down. Wonder price is different when i had notice. Realize they charged extra. Later i count back i check again only know their mistake but the way they respond me very rude, i think they all need to send to attend manner class training. I will not pay visit no next time.
