Glaciers at Los Glaciares National Park, Santa Cruz, ARGENTINA

10 February 2010 7 Comments

Well, even though its summer in Argentina, trust me the weather is freaking cold. This will be another short post until I have time for a more comprehensive post.

Los Glaciares National Park is located at the Santa Cruz province of Argentina. Its located at the south of Argentina. The nearest town will be El Calafate which is only 40 km away. We stayed in El Calafate for that reason. The 6 hours cruise ride cost around 295 pesos (US 90) excluding meal. We  got ourselves a double decker cruise. I met a few people on the cruise and had a great time chatting with them.

I’ve never seen an iceberg or glacier before, except the ones on TV. Amazingly the color of the iceberg was blue. Very deep rich blue, lovely.

While many might not know, nearby lakes colors are influenced by the glaciers. Surrounding lake colors are emerald blue, very beautiful.

Rest assured that I included this glacier picture from the cruise ride. More comprehensive blog post for the individual glaciers will come soon. The strong wind and the rain didn’t stop me from taking pictures and videos. The color and the presence of the glacier really makes me wonder how beautiful the nature is and also how unique is this God’s creation. Completely breathtaking.

It was around 10 degree celcius and lower. The wind were pretty cold though. My hands were shaking all the time while taking the pictures. It was raining as well at that moment of time.
