Chilling Out near Red Shirt Protestors Battleground, Khao San Road in Bangkok, THAILAND

Khao San Road is one of the most popular areas in Bangkok. Known as the “backpackers’ haven” of Bangkok, sadly  Khao San Road now is the battleground and also battlefield between the Red Shirt Protestors and the Bangkok’s security forces.

My first visit to Khao San Road was a few years ago when I went there with my best bud Peter. After that, Khao San Road has been one of my favourite hanging out area during night time for a few decent glasses of beer.

Khao San Road is a mixture of shopping, pubs, local food, restaurants and backpackers’ hostels. Do not expect cheap clothing from here, it’s slightly dearer than Platinum Mall and Chatuchak. Local food there is worth a try, not to mention the decent pricing. You can also look for Tattoo parlours, street performances, mini markets and restaurants.

Having glasses of beer and chilling out there is something to look for. Sadly, near the area has become a battleground and battlefield in between the Red Shirt Protestors and the security forces. So far many have been wounded and there were casualties as well.

Let’s hope this drama to end soon and for the time being, stay out of the Khao San Road area. Regardless, I will go back there again once the conflict is over.

Thanks for reading.
