Interview and Berbuaka Puasa with Datuk Chef Wan: Asian Food Channel’s Best Wan Series

23 August 2010 12 Comments

Chef Wan also share with us of his experiences working overseas promoting Malaysia as well as collaborating with other celebrity chefs. In a humble tone, he shares with us his latest awards and achievements locally and internationally. Most notable is in 2009, he won the Best Celebrity Television Chef of the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards.

Then to my wildest dream, Chef Wan cooked for us. Seeing him on television for 26 years, finally I had a chance to try out his cooking. Moving to his kitchen, he made kerabu (a Peranakan dish) for us. He also prepared an amazing “Nasi Pulut with durian paste and custard”. The Kerabu looks simple to make but the taste was pretty good. For the “Nasi Pulut with durian paste and custard”, it was my first time eating such desert and surprisingly, the durian smell wasn’t that strong.

It was an amazing evening with Datuk Chef Wan, sitting down and berbuaka puasa with him, listening to his stories and his life experiences. I would say he is a true Malaysian celebrity chef trying his best to promote the culture, religion and the country itself to rest of the world. Again I must thank Datuk Chef Wan for the time and effort and I wishes him all the best for him.

‘Best Wan’ airs on AFC (Astro Channel 703) on Tuesdays at 9pm. Encores are on Wednesdays, 1am and 11am; Fridays, 8.30pm; Saturdays, 4.30am, 8.30am, noon and 4.30pm; Sundays, 1am and 7pm; and Mondays, 1.30pm.

Nice pics and a great attempt. Just some grammatical errors in the text, notably:

    (i) There is no other Malaysian celebrity chef is more popular…
(ii)Chef Wan also share with us of his experiences working overseas…
    (iii) and I wishes him…
