Chempedak is one of the beautiful tropical fruits which are sticky and strong in flavour. It has the same genus as jackfruits. You can eat chempedak like jackfruit or deep fried it with batter. The least thing you could think of is made into a cake.
The chempedak cake at Swich Café in Publika is one of their many fruit cakes you need to try. I was there for a cup of ice chocolate and a humble slice of cake for tea time.
Their ice chocolate is nothing to shout about as I still missed those kick-ass ice chocolates in Australia. When it cost RM 13 for that ice chocolate, I am sure you will consider ordering that again.
The chempedak cake is completely a different story though . A slice of Chempedak cake is priced at RM 12. Yes, it is a pricey but you can find the value in it. It might be that biggest slice of cake but the taste is flavourful with chempedak coating. It is not too sweet and the taste is just perfect. Thus, it deserves all the bragging rights and maybe the next time I will try their other fruit cakes. I am unsure why it is called Swich Café but most important of all I enjoyed their chempedak cake.
