Nutmeg Bangsar Village II Breakfast

The trend of having “western” breakfast in cafes started a few years ago and there are many cafes in Klang Valley offer their version of “western” breakfast. Some they called it the “big breakfast” as it has bigger portion and they can charge more. The “big breakfast” concept started with many cafes and restaurants in Bangsar and one of the best so far is NutMeg.

NutMeg is located in Bangsar Village II (the new building) and it is located on Upper Ground Floor 28A next to Haagen Dazs and opposite Zara. They opened quite early around 9.30am considering in the shopping mall and ends at 10pm.

The café is usually packed during weekends especially for breakfast. I was there some time ago with my family to see what is the fuss all about as we heard so many good reviews on this café.

Café Latte (RM 8)

Typical café latte with coffee art and it didn’t disappoint at all. I always enjoy a cuppa coffee in the morning.

Nutmeg Gravlax “Croissant-wich” (RM 26)

Nutmeg Gravlax “Croissant-wich” comes with smoked paprika gravlax topped with scrambled eggs and toasted croissant. The taste of the gravlax is good and I am happy with the portion too especially the scrambled eggs. This is something different than the usual breakfasts.

Nutmeg Big Breakfast (RM 28)

Nutmeg’s version of Big Breakfast comes with two eggs of any style, lamb sausage, confit mushrooms, roasted garlic tomatoes, hash potatoes or fried mac and cheese, house cured salmon or salt beef and toasted brioche. I chose two poached eggs, lamb sausage, confit mushrooms, fried mac and cheese, salt beef and toasted brioche.

I love the combinations. I think the fried mac and cheese is clever and the lamb sausage is juicy and delicious. For portion is reasonably large but the taste is overall good.

Nutmeg definitely has the better big breakfast than its competitors. The prices are on the high side as the rental in Bangsar is never cheap. I enjoyed my breakfast there and I don’t mind going back there again.
