How to fly to Japan for less than RM 200 from Malaysia?

If you reading this, you probably think this is another click bait but it is not. I flew to Tokyo from KLIA 2 for RM 157 for return ticket from AirAsiaX. How do you fly so cheap? Well, have you heard of AirAsia BIG Loyalty Program? If you have not, don’t worry as they relaunched today. AirAsia BIG Loyalty Program is for AirAsia and AirAsiaX flights so if you flew with either one of them, you can claim the points with AirAsiaBIG.com.

There are a few ways in getting cheap flights to Japan using AirAsiaBIG.com. The easiest way is to spend all the points you have to redeem the flight or you do it the smart way.

There are two tricks in getting cheap airfare to Japan. Firstly, the redeeming the airfare at the fixed 30,000 AirAsia BIG points (one way). Thus, getting the return ticket will be 60,000 AirAsia BIG points (for return ticket) and RM 157 (for Tokyo for the airport tax and plus the extra service charge, it should be less than RM 200. All the airports in Japan charges less than RM 200 so what you need is the 60,000 AirAsia BIG points which we will explain below.

The second trick is to wait for last minute deals via the AirAsia BIG Final Call X sale that starts on every third week of the month. Of course, it depends on the monthly promotion but usually the Japan destinations are part of the promotion. For the AirAsia BIG Final Call X sale, the travel period is usually within 45 days of the sale (the end of the next month).  I purchased my Tokyo Haneda ticket with AirAsia BIG Final Call X sale for 40,000 AirAsia BIG Points.

Now, you to earn the thousands of AirAsia BIG Points. Since the AirAsia BIG Loyalty Program is revamped, now it is easier to get the AirAsia BIG Points than it used to be.

Instead of getting AirAsia BIG Points via miles, now you get points depend on how much you purchased your ticket. Then, they have different levels of membership so the higher rank you are, the more points you will get. The usual members will get RED and followed with GOLD, PLATINUM and BLACK.

If you travel 14-23 one way flights a year, you will be upgraded to GOLD, PLATINUM (24 – 49 one way flights) and BLACK for 50 one way flights and above. This applies to all AirAsia flights including domestic flights. For AirAsiaX flights, you get two points one way and this will express your qualification to GOLD and above.
