We are ending 2017 and time to celebrate the year end with a blast. With school holidays and Christmas around the corner, we brought our boys to visit Mid Valley Megamall to check out their Christmas decorations.
This year, the theme for the Christmas decoration is called ‘Home For Christmas’. The decoration revolves around the nostalgia of a traditional homecoming at Christmastime. The Christmas decoration is from 24th November 2017 to 1st January 2018.
It is the time of the year where friends and families get together for the festive season and Christmas. This is the time we get to spend more time together with our boys as it is school holiday now.
For those who are working outstation or abroad, this is the time for you to come home to visit your friends, families and loved ones. This the main reason why the trains and train station decoration in Mid Valley Megamall means so much as ‘Home for Christmas’. In the old days, not everyone has the privilege to fly as there was no such thing as budget airlines. Flying was for the rich and everyone depended on the road or train.
When we were younger, we always took the overnight train from KL to Singapore. That’s why the trains and train stations mean so much to us as ‘homecoming’.
The journey begins at the railway station in the English countryside, decked in the reds and greens of the season, and alive with the hustle and bustle of festive frolic.
The Christmas decoration at Mid Valley Megamall is located at two places, the Centre Court and the North Court (on Ground Floor). It is busy like Christmastime with many families, couples and friends taking pictures of this Christmas décor.
When our boys see the Christmas decorations for the first time, they were excited. Our boys were running around, checking out the chairs, the trees, the lights, the boxes, the telephone booth, the giant teddy and so many more.
Our youngest boy had so much fun, we went to hug the giant teddy and rested on it. There are a couple of giant teddies and they are so cute and comfy.
The red Telephone booth is also another highlight of this year’s Christmas decoration. Our boys loved it so much and they kept on playing with the phone.
Not forgetting the train station at the Centre Court is another great place for photo opportunity. Our boys were checking the train station and they had a great time and we as parents were busy chasing them around.
This year with the partnership with HSBC Bank, you can find carollers, performances, freshly-baked cookies, Christmas characters and the giant teddies.
We were told that Santa will be making regular appearances throughout this Christmastime in Mid Valley Megamall.
Say Hi Santa!
Kids for whom Christmas is not Christmas without Santa’s HoHoHo will be pleased to hear that for only RM10, they can have their photo taken with him. The proceeds will be channelled to the Agathian Shelter. Santa Meet & Greet sessions are from 14th till Christmas Day, at 1pm and 6pm daily, with an additional 3pm session on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
All your Christmas shopping in one place!
On top of the stunning decorations, you can find many Christmas shopping in one place. There are beautifully decorated pop-up stores together with the decorations.
Brands like Crabtree & Evelyn, Shins, Kiehl’s, Shizens, Clinique and The Body Shop are great places to pick up personal care items, prettily packed for the season.
For our boys, there are stores by by Red Balloon, Miss T, S&J, Sheldonet Toy Store, Box of Bricks, Lovely Lace and FEO – from toys to trinkets, games to fashionable outfits, you will be spoilt for choice.
If you are looking for more techie gifts, then make sure you head to iFREE Group Travelution, Sony, Fujifilm by Foto Shangri-La and Just In Case (your phone deserves a new outfit too!).
That is not it, there is also Minimalist Lab, Craft Factory and Options that will dazzle with a heady array of bags and accessories.
Shopping is hard work so when the legs need a break and you need a treat, look out for delicious and refreshing indulgences from Famous Amos, KitKat Chocolatory, Godiva, Juice Works, Gelato Fruity, Tealive, and Candy Star.
Our boys were in for a treat as we got some cookies for them from Famous Amos and also gelato from Gelato Fruity!

For all the shopping hauls, remember you can redeem the Christmas gifts at Centre Court and get it wrapped for free at North Court.

Since it is the time of the festive season. Mid Valley Megamall will take care of the gift wrapping. Hence, bring your precious purchases to the Gift Wrapping Service area at North Court, Ground Floor and they’ll get them tree-ready for free!
Sign up for festive workshops
There are some activities for the young ones too. We signed up for the festive workshop for our eldest boy to participate. We went for the workshop to create our own wooden train.
On top of that there are also workshops to make your own Christmas wreath, learn to bake festive goodies, or make a snowman – all you need to register for these workshops is a minimum spend of RM50 (in a single receipt).

Spread the cheer
As it is the season to be giving, let’s turn our thoughts to those who are not in a position to help themselves. Drop by the WWF Malaysia booth to make a donation, or pick up more Christmas pressies – they have quite a range of items on sale.
Spend & Redeem
Christmas is all about giving and receiving and during this festive period, you can redeem gifts when you spent at Mid Valley Megamall.
Spend a minimum of RM200 in a single receipt using your HSBC credit card (RM300 with cash or other cards) at any of the speciality stores and be rewarded. Collect these tokens and use them to redeem your preferred gifts at the Christmas Gift Store (Centre Court, Ground Floor).

Sights & Sounds of Christmas
There are also special performances on this festive season. There are performances by the Happy People Sextet, The Young KL Singers, The Zap Show and the Philharmonic Winds of Malaysia. Performances begin at 8pm. Please check appearance dates on the picture below.
What’s Christmas without Christmas carols? Make a date with the carollers – they will be performing your favourite tunes on the 16th, 17th, 24th and 25th of December at 7.30pm, Centre Court on the Ground Floor.
Throughout the season, they will be giving away balloons every day, at 12.30pm and 5.30pm. Keep a look out for the happy bunch on the Ground Floor! Oh and don’t be surprised if you run into one of the Christmas Characters – they’ll be taking daily strolls through the mall from the 7th till Christmas Day.
Honestly, this is probably the best Christmas decorations by Mid Valley Megamall in recent years. We love the ‘Home for Christmas’ theme and our boys enjoyed themselves too. We took so many pictures and videos and had lots of family time too.
Here is a tip for those who are visiting Mid Valley Megamall during this festive season. Be there early (before 11am), you have ample of parking spaces and lesser crowd. You can enjoy brunch without any queuing and you can spend the whole day in Mid Valley Megamall. The traffic to Mid Valley Megamall is usually good before 11 am. Be there early and spend a wonderful day at Mid Valley Megamall. We hope you enjoy the Christmas decorations like we do!
