An interview with veteran 4x4WorldExplorer.com and 4x4Malaysia.com.my traveler, Steven Ng told me about a place he called it the 4th most beautiful village in China. The place is called Zhao Xing, Guizhou.
In the Kuala Lumpur to China expedition that happened in 2007, the team stopped over at Zhao Xing. He recalled on the way coming back from Zheng Yuan, the journey took approx. 400 km before they reached Zhao Xing.

Dong Dancers: Getting ready to welcome the 4x4WorldExplorer.com group.

It was 28th of February 2007 as they reached Zhao Xing in the evening around 7pm. A group of local dancers welcome them at the gate. The locals are known as Dong.

Meeting the Dongs: The group was pretty excited meeting up with the Dongs for the first time. They were busy taking pictures of them.

They were given welcome drink and a glance of the Dong minority nationality’s dance. It wasn’t just that, the team were eventually dancing with them. The night was joyful and everyone had a smile on their face.

Structures of the Past: Most of the structures in Zhao Xing were still well maintained from the past.

The next day, the team was greeted by chilly cooling weather as they needed to continue their journey to Yangshuo, Guilin. The journey will take them a 370 km drive.

Zhao Xing is consisted of wooden structures are popular with its drum tower. There are 5 drum towers in the village which represents 5 local groups. The culture was so rich until most of the Dong minority still converse in Dong language. Clad with traditional clothes, one might wonder if such place still existed at this time.

Beautiful flowers of Zhao Xing.

While leaving the town, they were treated a beautiful flowers grown on the terraces of the hills. The blooming colourful flowers were everywhere marked the spring season of China.
