This was our fifth day and our last day of honeymoon in Bali and because our flight in the afternoon, we still have time for half the day.

It is always nice to have the breakfast ready in front of you when you wake up. Such services are common in private villas in Bali. Usually we ordered the breakfast a day before and they will come and serve it at the dining hall in the villa. Don’t blame us being lazy, it is honeymoon.

Since it was our last day, we pampered ourselves again with La Beau Kunti Villa in-house spa services. The spa flavour of that day, strawberry! It was fun to have our body to cover by strawberry milk and we felt so fruity after the spa.

I mentioned in the earlier posts that the reason we stayed in Seminyak because of its close distance to the airport as well as to Kuta town. Hence, after we checked out from the villa we still have time to go to Kuta for last minute shopping.

Kuta market is beach side market near Kuta beach selling various items from clothing to Balinese souvenirs. They might not be the cheapest place to shop but for last minute shopping, it is the best recommended area.

If there is no intention of shopping, walking around the beautiful Kuta beach could be another option. We try to make the most of our limited time on our last day in Bali.

Lastly, we went to Ngurah Rai International Airport at Densapar for our flight back to Kuala Lumpur Malaysia. The five days we spent in Bali for our honeymoon was amazing. We pampered ourselves, had a bit of adventure and sight-seeing in this trip. Even though this was our second trip to Bali, we are yet to venture all the attractions in Bali yet. We will come back again in the future for our third trip. Thank you Pak Putu our guide and the friendly Balinese people who gave us a memorable honeymoon.

Honeymoon in Bali Day 4: Water sport and Snorkelling at Honeymoon Beach Club in Nusa Dua, Turtle Island Visit, Jimbaran Sunset Dinner and Partying at Kudeta

Our Balinese honeymoon day 4 started off by traveling to the beautiful beach of Nusa Dua for water sports. Nusa Dua is also popular for its luxury hotels and private villas.

Please check at the bottom for our full honeymoon day to day activity in Bali.

At Nusa Dua, we went to the Honeymoon Beach Club. As recommended by our guide, they offered package deals of varieties of water sports which include banana boat ride, jet skiing, snorkelling and sea walker.

We took the jet skiing, banana boat ride and snorkelling. We got a bit unlucky as the sea walker boat was on service so we didn’t have chance trying the sea walker.

Sea walker is basically walking underwater with a breathing helmet hooked to the ship. Sea walking is walking on the sea bed for coral and fish watching.

We went with the banana boat first. We held on tight on the boat, we didn’t fall off. We didn’t intend to get wet, we got lucky.

Then, we tried the jet skiing. It was actually my first time experience for jet skiing. The Jet Ski ride was fun, out of the world and it was very safe as well. I am very impressed with the safety measures taken by them, thumbs up!

Snorkelling was next, with proper snorkelling gears given, we were given a brief safety instruction on our gears before we went for snorkelling. Snorkelling near Nusa Dua beach was unexpectedly enjoyable. The water was surprisingly clear and the corals and the fishes there are colourful. We spent quite some time snorkelling and enjoying ourselves there.

After the snorkelling session, we went back to the Honeymoon Beach Club for lunch buffet. The lunch buffet is included in the water sport package. Then, we take a short boat ride to the Turtle Island of Nusa Dua.

The Turtle Island is a turtle sanctuary. The boat ride to the turtle island is around 20 min from the beach club. The island is very small and we got to see quite a number of turtles available there. Some are quite gigantic in size. We spent half an hour there before we headed back to Honeymoon Beach Club

We went back to our resort at La Beau Kunthi Villa, Seminyak for a short break before we headed to the famous Jimbaran beach for dinner. There is nothing like having a sunset seafood dinner at Jimbaran Beach.

It is one of the most popular sunset dinning places in Bali because of their fresh and delicious seafood. On top of that, the price of the seafood is very reasonable.

We spent almost 2 hours enjoying the dinner there.

Lastly, after dinner we went to another famous place, Ku De Ta. It is known as one of the most exclusive clubs in Bali. There is a saying, if you been to Bali, you must go to Ku De Ta. If not, you have not completed Bali.

The ambience and the top class in house music are the best of both worlds. It is a very relaxing place for friends and families. We spent some quality moments there before we headed back to our villa. It was our last night and Bali has been really spectacular!

If you read about our Bali Honeymoon Day One and Day Two, it was packed with activities and we visited quite a number of places. However, the third day of our honeymoon in Bali was rather relax and lazy.
We stayed at Dreamland Luxury Villa and Spa for our first two nights and yet we didn’t have time to enjoy the facilities so our third day is mainly chill in our private villa. Since we paid so much for our stay in the villa, it would be ridiculous for not experience it to the fullest.

We can always go to the café for our complimentary breakfast or we can order it to our villa. They will come early in the morning, set up the breakfast in the gazebo. However, we need to book a day in advance for it. A typical breakfast meal in Dreamland Luxury Villa and Spa looks like a feast.
We spend half day in Dreamland Luxury Villa and Spa before we checked out and check in to our second villa, Le Beau Kunti Villa in Seminyak.

La Beau Kunti Villa adapts a more modern design and the villas available are lesser than Dreamland Luxury Villa and Spa. Budget wise it is relatively cheaper than Dreamland Luxury Villa and Spa.
The advantage of staying in Seminyak is it is located near Kuta town and relatively near the airport. The closer we stay to the airport it is better for us because we can avoid unnecessary traffic jams.
For a full review of La Beau Kunti Villa, check out my previous blog post named La Beau Kunti Villa Review, Seminyak, BALI: Beauty of Private Villa.
We spent remaining half of the day enjoying our sweet time at La Beau Kunti. In the villa, we have private open concept kitchen as well as sofa for guests. Even the toilet is open concept.

For dinner, our guide took us to a Japanese buffet restaurant. The place is called 168 Japanese Buffet Restaurant.

It is a steamboat (hot pot) or shabu shabu type of restaurant. It is quite typical buffet restaurant. The restaurant is huge and most of the patrons there were from tour groups. At least half of them are Chinese from China. We had a good chat with few of them, promoting Malaysia (again) and we chat about some the places we visited in Bali.
168 Japanese Buffet Restaurant Address and Contact:

After the heavy dinner, we went back to La Beau Kunti. We rest early before another hectic day. Please do check out our Honeymoon Day Four in the next few days.
We will be away this weekend for our first diving trip. Thank you for reading!

If you read on our Bali Honeymoon Day One yesterday, that was just the appetizer. On the second day of our honeymoon in Bali, we travelled more!

Like I mentioned on my previous posts, transportation in Bali is never an issue. Please do check the rates at the counters located outside of the airport or ask the front desk for rates. Although we were with guided tour, you can still choose our destinations if you like it and you can still plan your travel plans in Bali.

Our Balinese Honeymoon day two started with traveling to Kintamani to view the famous Mount Batur viewing in the morning. Traveling from Dreamland to Kintamani viewing site took us 3 hours mainly due to the heavy traffic.

At Kintamani, we can see the beautiful Mount Batur from far. For your info, Mount Batur is an active volcano and near the volcano there is the Danau Batur lake which is the largest crater lake on the island of Bali. From far, we can see lorry ferrying the volcanic soil for commercial purpose. There are also villages built around the volcano.

Then, we proceed to Tirtha Empul Temple which is located at the middle of the island, Ubud. Tirtha Empul Temple is a Hindu temple and famous for its holy water. The holy water sourced from the large spring water at the area. Most Hindu Balinese go there for purification with the holy water.

The temple is a beauty itself, most of the structure is well maintained. Since it is a temple, skirts and shorts are now allowed, they will provide temporary yellow kilts. The holy water is as clear as crystal and there were many devotees cleaning themselves with the water. The Tirtha Empul Temple was built in 926 AD.

One of the must try food in Bali is their Babi Guling. Babi Guling is the Balinese version of suckling pig. The recommended place for this is the Warung Babi Guling Ibu Roka. Crispy fried skin with tender meat underneath and it is complimented with side dishes, babi guling lives up to its reputation. Below is the address and telephone of the restaurant:

Warung Babi Guling Ibu Roka Address and Contact:

JL Raya Tegas/Peliatan Ubud

Tel: (0361) 976345

This place is also recommended by J2kfm from Malaysia.

Next, we went to Tegalalang Terrace Paddy Field. It is just a few minutes of driving from Ubud. The beauty of Tegalalang terrace paddy field is the scenery. Most tourists would spend a few hours sipping coffee and tea at one of the coffee shops while enjoying the view. As we have little time to spend, we went back to Ubud town for shopping!

Shopping in Ubud is a different experience than in Kuta. Unlike Kuta, Ubud has specialty shops and unique café and restaurants. If I would compare, it has a slight similarity to Newtown in Sydney Australia.

It wasn’t one of the best days of the year as it was raining so we had no choice but to end the day with shopping in Ubud.

We went to try another famous Balinese food, the bebek bengil or dirty duck. We had our dirty duck at “The Pond” in Ubud. The restaurant is a beautiful open concept restaurant facing the padi field. However, the dirty duck was not as good as we expected. Enough said.

It was packed day as we went to places like Kintamani, Tirtha Empul Temple, Tegalalang Terrace Paddy Field and Ubud town. It was another lovely evening spending our time together at beautiful Dreamland Luxury Villa and Spa.

Lastly, we decided to try the spa treatment in Dreamland Luxury Villa and Spa. Actually, I pre-booked the spa earlier on and gave Rachel a surprise for the spa session.

We can do the spa session in our private villa or at their spa. We prefer doing it at their spa because of its facilities.

We chose our ideal fragrant body oil as well as body scrub. There were 5 types each based on our preferences.

We had two hours of body massage treatment. It was relaxing and this is what honeymoon is all about. Relaxation and fun! After the spa treatment, we called it a day. The spa is just a few minutes of walking to our private villa. If you are lazy to walk, you can always ask for the buggy ride.

We already had two fun days for our honeymoon, remember to check out our third day of honeymoon tomorrow, it will be different!

Last year when we look for a destination for honeymoon, we expect to go to a beautiful island with sandy beaches, amazing sunset, spectacular food and a little bit of adventure. On top of all of the above, the price must be reasonable too.

We found a few places that are meets our criteria and they are Phuket Thailand, Bali Indonesia and Langkawi Malaysia. After a long discussion, we decided to go to Bali for our honeymoon. It will be our second trip to Bali.

We reached Denpasar, Bali in the afternoon from Kuala Lumpur. We booked a guided tour and our guide, Pak Putu waited for us at the arrival hall of Ngurah Rai International airport.

If you don’t have a guided tour, please do check out the local guide with van at affordable prices in front of the Ngurah Rai International airport. The charges for the local guide or driver with the van should be in the range of US$40 per day. Chargers differ based on length of the van rental as well as the different type of vehicle used. Most guides or drivers can speak English. Other foreign languages speaking guides also available, just ask the counters located outside of the airport.

We went for a quick lunch first and since Kuta is located beside Denpasar, our guide took us to this restaurant called Kemangi. Kemangi is a fusion of Italian and Indonesian restaurant.

The food there was disappointing as the food served to us was cold. We complained but the waitress there didn’t do anything, disappointing. After lunch, we travel south to Uluwatu for the infamous Uluwatu temple. Due to the traffic jam, we took 40 min to reach the Uluwatu temple.

We were advised to take off little things like spectacles, wallets, handbags or such as there are a lot of wild monkeys in Uluwatu temple. The problem with these monkeys is they like steal things. It is better to be safe than sorry, I took off my spectacles.

The temple is just a short distance from the parking area. It was probably around a good five minute walk.
Based on my experience there, to have the best view of the Uluwatu temple is to view it from far. To be precise, the view from the opposite cliff of the temple is excellent. It’s just another 10 min walk from the top of the temple.

After the Uluwatu temple, we went to the Klapa Beach Club in Dreamland. Dreamland is a new popular spot in Bali.

Klapa Beach Club overlooks the view of the beautiful Dreamland beach.Hence, Klapa Beach Club is one place that can rivals other sunset viewing places in Bali.

The club is also one of the latest attractions for surfing enthusiasts and we spent some time there having our cocktails while enjoying the view and listening to the house music.

After spending our beautiful evening at Klapa Beach Club at we checked in to our private villa at Dreamland Luxury Villa and Spa. We chose to stay at private villa than hotel as we wanted privacy for our honeymoon. Private villas in Bali have very good reviews and reputations. More over the pricing is much lower than many other places.

Dreamland Luxury Villa and Spa prepared a honeymoon themed private villa for us. The private pool and the bed were decorated with pink flowers. They even gave us a complimentary lobster dinner with wine in the villa. It was really a good way to celebrate our honeymoon. This is only day one of our 5 days honeymoon trip in Bali. Check out our Honeymoon in Bali Day Two tomorrow as there are more to come! Thank you for reading!

We went to the Honeymoon Beach Club in Nusa Dua. Nusa Dua is popular for its luxury hotels and sandy white beaches. At Honeymoon Beach Club, they offered package deals of varieties of watersports which include banana boat ride, jet skiing, snorkeling and seawalker. We took the jet skiing, banana boat ride and snorkeling. We got a bit unlucky as the seawalker boat was on service.

We started off with banana boat ride, we held on tight and we didn’t fall off.

Then, we tried the jet skiing. To ensure the safety of us, a rider is positioned at the back of us. The rider will navigate the jet ski to the sea and then we will take over from there. This will ensure the safety of us as well as the jet ski. With this, there will be no complains on damages on jet ski and also there will be someone to rescue us in case we fell off or drowning. The jet ski ride was fun, out of the world and it was very safe as well.

Lastly, we went for the snorkeling. With proper snorkeling gears given, we were given a brief safety instruction on our gears before we went for snorkeling. Snorkeling near Nusa Dua beach was unexpectedly enjoyable. The water was surprisingly clear and the corals and the fishes there are colourful. We spent quite some time snorkeling and enjoying ourselves there.

After the snorkeling session, we went back to the Honeymoon Beach Club for lunch buffet. The lunch buffet is included in the watersport package. Spending half day at Honeymoon Beach Club was enjoyable and fun!

The Most Expensive Coffee in the World

Coffee is one of the most popular drinks in the world. Millions of people around the world drink coffee every day. Some people may like to drink it in the morning to gear up the day, while some will drink it for enjoyment. Coffee is sourced from all over the world. Different places produce different quality of coffee and prices ranged from a few dollars per pound to more than hundred dollars per pound. The most expensive coffee in the world does not come from Europe, South America or Central America, it comes from Indonesia. The name of this coffee is Luwak coffee.

Luwak coffee, it is one of the most unique and expensive coffee in the world. The name luwak is derived from the Indonesian meaning of Asian Palm Civet. Luwak coffee is mainly produced on the islands of Sumatra, Java, Bali and Sulawesi. Due to its popularity, it is also now available in Philippines, Vietnam and East Timor.

Young coffee berries

What is so special about Luwak coffee? Unlike ordinary coffee, luwak coffee is made from the beans of coffee berries which has been consumed and digested by the Asian Palm Civet. Surprisingly, when the civet eats the berries, the beans are then defecated keeping its original shape. Then, the beans will go through process of cleaning, drying, light roasting and brewing after which the beans will have an aromatic taste with much less bitterness.

Ripe Coffee Berries

The history of Luwak coffee came about in the 18th century where Dutch established coffee plantations in their colony in the Dutch East Indies islands of Java and Sumatra. During that time, the Dutch prohibited the locals to taste the coffee. Due to their curiosity and desireness, they found undigested coffee beans consumed by luwak and clean, roast and grind it to make their own coffee beverage. The luwak coffee then spread to the Dutch plantation owners and they loved it. Even on that era, luwak coffee was expensive due to its unique and unusual process.

My recent trip to Bali, Indonesia provides me the opportunity to try this infamous Luwak coffee. It is available almost anywhere in Bali. It is seems to be very commercialize due to its popularity. Our guide took us to one of the coffee house near Ubud. There, I was given a brief tour and explanation on how luwak coffee is made. Beside the coffee shop, they planted a few coffee trees. From coffee flower to coffee berry, the farm has it all. They even have a live Asian Palm Civet in the captivity. The furry civet was taking a nap, probably had too much coffee berries for breakfast.

The raw coffee berries are red in colour. After digestion process, coffee seeds are still intact in a form of civet’s stool. It does look quite disgusting and it is hard to believe it is so priceless.

Then after the cleaning and drying process, the colour of beans then changed to a light bright yellow colour. The colour of the beans is very similar to the colour of the ground peanuts.

The civet cat sleeping.

Then the coffee beans will be roasted and grind to powder form. A pound of this powder form can fetch more than dollars in certain places. However, in Indonesia it is still cheaper than others. I ordered a cup of Luwak coffee and I was given free tasting on other different coffees available there. The Luwak coffee costs around RM 25.

The taste is definitely more aromatic than the usual coffee. The aroma is rich and the coffee taste is thick. It is an enjoyable experience. For coffee lovers, this is heavenly.

The coffee house sells other variety of coffee such as “male” coffee, ginger coffee and the common Javanese coffee. Luwak coffee is sold in powder form only. A 50g Luwak Coffee is selling for around RM 100 or 300,000 Indonesian Rupiah. Many tourists filled up their bags with this fame coffee.

It was enjoyable to taste the most expensive coffee in the world in Bali. Though it is commercialized, it is still cheaper than many other places in the world. I wouldn’t mind stopping over to one of the coffee shops for Luwak coffee on my next trip to Bali. Luwak coffee definitely lives up to its expectations.

Our recent trip to Bali brought me to this amazing place; Klapa Beach Club. Located in Dreamland, the Klapa Beach Club is one of the latest attractions in Dreamland and Bali.

The club house is nothing but impressive and modern. As I walked through the club house, the whole mood and feelings changed. The décor and the ambience are soothing. Once I got to the end of the passage, there it was a scenic view that portrays in front of me.

No it wasn’t my wife, no offence; it was almost as identical as the pictures I saw from a travel magazines or post cards.

In front of me was an infinity pool which faces the sea.

I really wished I could jump straight into the pool.

We ordered 2 cocktails and sat on bar which faces the beach.

From the top, we can enjoy the beautiful Dreamland beach and the beautiful sunset; not far ahead we can see surfers battling the waves while enjoying some house music playing on the background.

It felt very Zen. Klapa Beach Club is the latest attractions for surfers and sun tanners.

The beach is clean and the sand is soft.

If you are in Bali, please make time to visit Klapa Beach Club, it is perfect place to enjoy the beach, surfing and enjoy the sunset and not to mention that it is a fantastic romance getaway especially for honeymooners!
