Some might called it salt wrapped chicken, but I prefer calling it salted chicken. I couldn’t recall when was the last time I had a salted chicken. Probably it has been years.
A few Thursdays ago, me and wife, Rachel went to Yulek’s night market (pasar malam) for dinner. For a very rare occasion, we ended having a very bad “char kuey teow” and “fried lobak” at one of the lorry stall. Why rare? The stall was packed and the food was horrible! Wasn’t it rare?
Since both of us didn’t finish …

The first time I had this was almost 20 years ago, when they were just a road side stall beside Convent Peel Road Primary School. They used to have burning small kettles to refill hot water for Chinese teapots.
Years later, now they moved to Queens Park, opposite Carrefour Cheras as Restoran Xin Wah.
During lunch time and dinner time, this place is usually packed.

There’s one famous big Pau in Cheras. Its called the Yip Chee Mei or Amy Yip Big Pau. The pau is so big until they have to named it after a famous 90′s big breasted Hong Kong AV actress, Yip Chee Mei. I’m not sure whether they pay royalty to her though.
The stall is located at the both sides of the main road of Taman Connaught. Normally, patrons would take away rather than eating there on the spot.
The stall opposite BHP station of Taman Connaught (same row with Restoran Sun …

Somewhere I haven’t ate in ages. The famous chicken rice of Taman Connaught, Restoran Tim Kee. Same row as the Restoran Khong Li (Yong Tau Fu) and its located at the back of Restoran Sun Ming (Famous Roast Duck).
During lunch time, this place is usually packed. Parking could be a bit troublesome as well.
The front of the restaurant…
Hainanese chicken and char siew (roast pork). The chicken was good, rice was fragrantly delicious. Understandable why its popular.

There’s a stretch in Taman Muda is popular known as “wai sek kai” (food street). It started with a few stalls illegally decade ago and the previous local council decided to legalise this stalls.
There’s a lot of mixed rice restaurants in this stretch. At least 3-5 restaurants. Judging by the crowd, me, Andy, Ming and Yang decided to try the mix rice at Restoran Sun Gee for lunch.
Check out the crowd!
Look at the varieties of foods. Definitely more 50 dishes.
I wouldn’t say the mixed rice was superbly amazing but they …

Hey! I know I’m not a big vege lover but it doesn’t mean I can’t go and eat Vegetarian foods right?
This is my second visit to this place. Located behind UE3, facing the Miharja Condos and Apartments, this place is very popular among the vegetarians.
I was surprised as they renovated the place to a very “Western” design. Since it was a lunch, we ordered our foods quickly.
My dad ordered Hong Siew Noodle. Can you really imagine this is vegetarian? Seriously, it really tasted like meat. The feeling was like …

Some people often said that Cheras got lots of good foods. Well, I would agree to that if you know where to find. Basically its a very general term applies to everywhere. I was brought to here by my fellow friends celebrating pre-CNY last month. I passed by this cafe so many times.
We started with “Thai” Yee Sang, the difference is in the sauce. They changed the usual sweet sauce to Thai sweet sauce. Then we ordered some lovely prawn cakes. I must say that the prawn …

Pat Kin Pat Sun means Will Wait Till You Come… It’s a old Chinese term for people who will be meeting up somewhere and making sure they are serious about the meet up.
I had been visiting this place for years even before it becomes Pat Kin Pat Sun now. The place used to be famous for its chicken and pork chops.
I was sometime ago having lunch with my colleagues. We ordered a Lamb Chop, Macau Pork Chop Burger, Fish and Chips and my favourite Bacon Roll. Lamb …

This Lam Mee place has been in Yulek, Cheras for a while. Well, at least 10-15 years… I remember my college friends brought me here around 1996.
The outlet is below one of the flats. Its quite packed during lunch hours.
On top of Lam Mee, we also ordered Yong Tau Fu. Yong Tau Fu is another stall beside the restaurant.
The lovely thing about Malaysia is you can have good food at great prices. For this case, the place is a bit old but the food is still okay. Per pax, under …
