Travel Photos: Eye On Malaysia, Malacca

In conjunction of Visit Malaysia Year 2007, our ex-Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi decided to make the Eye on Malaysia. Erected as 60 meters tall, the portable ferris wheel is previously installed at Titiwangsa Lake Gardens, Kuala Lumpur until it was relocated to Malacca on 2008.

Rachel, Shan Shuen and Jui Wan
Sadly, I never got the chance to hop on the ferris wheel while it was in Titiwangsa but I did hop on in Malacca instead, last year. It was majestic and huge, beautifully …

The Tribute to the Queen: The Victoria Fountain of Malacca

The Tribute to the Queen: The Victoria Fountain of Malacca
A gift for the Queen remains in the heart of Malacca for centuries. Malacca once ruled by the British from 1826 to 1946, for more than 100 years. For the remembrance of the late Queen Victoria Regina, the Malaccans erected the fountain in 1901 coinciding with the Diamond Jubilee. A Diamond Jubilee is a celebration to mark a 60th anniversary of the reign of the King or Queen.

The Victoria Fountain: Dedicated to the late Queen of the Great British Empire in …

Pineapple Tarts near Jonker Street – Pooh Keon Enterprise, Malacca, MALAYSIA

Pineapple Tarts near Jonker Street – Pooh Keon Enterprise, Malacca, MALAYSIA
Melaka is famous for its UNESCO heritage site. For its food, it will be the chicken rice ball, the “satay celup” and the pineapple tarts. Pineapple tarts and pineapple rolls are everywhere nowadays in Jonker Street, Melaka.  However, finding a good authentic pineapple tart shop could be tough.
My parents have been patronizing a shop near Jonker Street for years. It’s called Pooh Keon Enterprise.

The most notable reason buying from this shop is because the pineapple tarts here are freshly made. …

Cheng Hoon Teng Temple
Located in Melaka, many might not heard about this temple, some might not know the existence of it. Even I’ve been there for so many times didn’t know the rich history of this temple.
Cheng Hoon Teng Temple or some might referred it to Quan Yin Temple is actually one of the oldest Chinese Temple in Malaysia.
Cheng Hoon Teng was founded in the 1600s by the Chinese Kapitan Tay Kie Ki alias Tay Hong Yong. The temple it self is around 400 years old! Even today it looked …

Do not blame me for the lack of food posts. It will come soon trust me. Been very active in taking photographs with my Canon 20D. This were the few shots I took a few months ago at Jonker Street, Malacca (Melaka) using 50mm 1.8f lens. Enjoy.

Man riding his bicycle towards Jonker Street.

The ever busy Jonker Street.

Random…

Lantern was sure old.

Was it for SALE?

More vintages…

Ais Kacang anyone?

That’s all for now. More to come!

There’s one famous fried oyster omelette in Melaka that well known with the locals for generations. Its a small stall that’s only operates at night at Medan Makanan Bunga Raya at Jalan Bunga Raya. The stall normally operates from 8pm until midnight and expect a long queue to order.
My father’s hometown is Melaka. He told me that, the stall was already popular when he was a kid. The stall has been operating at least 40-50 years. My grandma told me they used to cook with duck eggs which tasted much …

In a coffee shop by the name of Yung Lai Siang @ Jalan Bunga Raya Pantai, there’s a small stall selling puffs…
The name is Grandpa’s Curry and Chicken puff…
Like many other great foods, you can see they got newspaper write ups also… so this place must be not “bad” or “beh pai”….
I tried sardine puff before but yam puff was my first time. In fact, we only manage to buy 2 as the rest was sold out. Knowing it must be good, we shared the yam puff when we were …

Satay Celup is very popular in Malacca. I’m a big fan of it since I’m a kid. Since my dad is from there, I used to go back there during holidays and I wasted no time to get my satay celup.
Satay Celup means “Dipped Satay” mainly because of its satay sauce.
Its really simple. You just eat what you like to eat, then they will calculate the total.
The food varies from pork balls, sausages to eggs…
Vege like kangkung and other type of deep fried foods available as well…
More shots of the …
