Taiping’s Best Hotel, Flemington Hotel
Taiping had a new hotel to their addition in 2009, the Flemington Hotel. Located opposite the popular Taiping Lake, Flemington Hotel was the official hotel for the 2009 4×4 Larut Hill International Challenge.
The Flemington Hotel has one of the best view of the Taiping lake in Taiping.
The room itself is spacious, with LCD TV and modern looking carpet. There’s also a small chair with a small round coffee table by the large glass window. Not forgetting there’s a work table with a nice leather chair. The …

First of all, I would like to thank Oris Watches for the sponsoring myself, Rachel Ting and Adeline Ng to compete at the Larut Hill 2009 4×4 Challenge. This is the 3rd year of the race and we are the only ladies team for this year’s event. I knew from Wilson that Oris Watches had been sponsoring the 4×4 race 2 years consecutively. However we never got the chance to be part of it except that Wilson was there to record the event. So when …

I was in Sitiawan again for work a few months ago. Since my client knew about my blog, they brought me to different restaurants. This was a lunch, a stone away from the Lumut port.
We started with la la with cucumber soup at RM 10.
Then the usual fried oyster omelette at RM 12. Sitiawan’s version used more eggs than starch, different than the ones we have here in KL. Both have their own individual taste, I loved both.
Potato Leaf with garlic was next at RM 12. Slightly wet, but …

The location of this restaurant is on the junction of Sitiawan and Lumut Port, map is below.

The common thing to do when a restaurant is packed, you will go to the next restaurant. Since we couldn’t eat at Foh San for dim sum, we proceed to a restaurant opposite Foh San, Kedai Kopi Woh Heng. We also met a tour guide outside of Foh San, who recommend us the dry curry noodle at Kedai Kopi Woh Heng.
Conveniently, we went to Kedai Kopi Woh Heng located just opposite of the road of Foh San.
We ordered the dry curry noodle as recommended by the tour guide. The noodle …

Restoran Foh San is a very popular dim sum restaurant in Ipoh. Trust me the initial plan was to go there at 6.30 am. However, me and Rachel overslept and Steph called me at 6 am and we were like shit! We were still sleeping! It never intentional to be late, trust me on that!
We reached Ipoh around 9 am and we started to look for the restaurant without any maps or address. By 9.30 am we reached the restaurant by asking around and a friendly motorist who guided us …

The Amazing Capri Restaurant in Lumut, Perak
(March 09) – On the fourth day, we went to Lumut town for lunch. Since we tried Rockafella, we decided to try on the famous Capri Restaurant.
Lumut town is actually quite small. Locating Capri restaurant is never been easier. Its just a few turns from the Lumut jetty.
Its a cozy restaurant. There was quite a big crowd during lunch time when we were there. We also saw a few ship captains enjoying their lunch there.
The pizza came first. The Quattro Stagioni Pizza. It comes …

Thai Taste Restaurant at Damai Laut Golf and Country Club, Lumut
(March 09) -For the third night in Sitiawan, our client decided to bring us to a Thai restaurant at Damai Laut Golf and Country Club. It is located beside Swiss Garden, Lumut.
To go there from Setiawan, it took us at least half an hour drive. We drove slowly there and we enjoyed the lovely plantations view during the journey.
When we reached the restaurant, we were greeted by Thai waitresses and the other lovely friendly staffs. Parking was not an issue …

On the second night of the work, we decided to be a bit adventurous. Instead of dining in Setiawan, we drove further to Lumut town for dinner.
Recommended by my client, this place is called Rockafellas Cafe (not related to the Rockafellas of US). Apparently, this place is very famous for its simple western cuisine.
The journey itself took around 1/2 an hour. After a few turns, we finally located the restaurant in Lumut town.
The place itself was very cozy. Nice enough, they had a pool table in the cafe. The friendly …

* NON-HALAL
This will be a series of Setiawan and Lumut food sessions I had in late March. I was working in Lumut for 5 days and I visited a few restaurants there.
Finding a nice place to dine was not easy. There’s so many seafood restaurants in Setiawan, which is the better ones?
So then, I asked a coffee shop owner near my hotel and he recommended us “Ah Pek”. Which his proper directions, we managed to locate the place.
It was around 8 pm and we were the last customer. We spoke …

Pangkor Island Beach Resort Review
(Aug ‘07) – Found this in one of my old hard drives. It was my maiden trip to Pangkor Island.
The journey from Kuala Lumpur to Lumut was around 3 1/2 hours. We parked at the multi level car parks beside the jetty.
One thing good about Pangkor Island Beach Resort was they have their own ferry. The receptionist checked our booking and we were on our way to “paradise”.
The resort and its private beach…
Sunset by the beach…
Lots of hornbills and lots of monkeys as well…
Pictures taken from …
