Unfortunately, we are not there today. Rachel was there two weeks ago and she spotted the Transformers The Ride 3D Coming Soon Poster.

As we thought it could be just another ride until we saw the introduction video of the Transformers The Ride 3D by Gurmit Singh aka the popular Phua Chu Kang.

5 Reasons to stay in Singapore with Roomorama.com

We travelled to Singapore twice this year, and three times last year. We have been staying different places every time we went down. Some are sponsored stay and some are on our own. We been looking at options for a better stay in Singapore and we found Roomorama.com

Roomorama was founded on the principle that there is more to travel than visiting a checklist of tourist attractions. It is more than renting a hotel room as it is more like a home stay. Like our recent trip to Singapore, we stayed in a neighbourhood unlike the other times we stay in the city.

There are purely five reasons to stay in Singapore with Roomorama.com:

Convenient

There are dozens of hotel booking websites on the Internet but only a few room booking websites are available. Roomorama stands out as the better ones.

We browsed and checked almost all the available options with Roomorama. Everything is just a matter of a simple click.

At first we enquire about the availability of the room. After that, we booked (upon availability) and paid in advance with credit card or even Paypal. Payment is via secured line and transaction. Then, we received the confirmation via email and also details of the room.

The place we stayed in Singapore
The great thing about Roomorama is the interaction between the owner and us. The owner suggested to us the best places to eat and where is the nearest bus stop or the nearest MRT Station. This saved us a lot of time researching about the place or area.

When we reached there, we mentioned our confirmation code and we were good to stay. It was like a “secret code”, hassle free.

Affordable

Staying in Singapore is not cheap. In this few years, I have stayed in various types of hotels in Singapore. Budget hotels are cheap but the location is not strategic, especially planning a long stay in Singapore will cost a hole in the pocket.

Roomorama offers longer stay period than hotels and it is more affordable. You can check out their prices comparing to hotel rooms. If you want to know how their rooms look like, read on there are pictures below. Bottom line is, it is cheaper whether it is a short or long term stay with Roomorama.

Location

They are lots of options to choose from. You can choose which area you want to stay. Different neighbourhood, different pricing. Each and every single room is listed with maps (with indications of bus stations and MRT stations). You can choose the hectic city stay or quiet neighbourhood stay.

Comfortable

The room we stayed is called the Cherryloft in Serangoon. It is a service apartment in a very quiet neighbourhood.

They gave us the room with a very comfortable green view. The room comes with air-cond and cable TV, more than we ask for. There were also mineral water and working desk.

The bathroom was bright and clean. It comes with hot water and clean towels.

The view from our room. =)

We were glad that the room was clean and well maintained. Comfortable stay is very important to us. We hate smelly bedrooms and dirty toilet.

Services

We had great communications with them since we booked our stay. We received sms and email on our confirmation code before we reached Singapore. Roomorama gave us a very good impression on their services.

The receptionists in Cheffy Loft was very helpful too. As a whole, it makes our stay very easy and we enjoyed the great services. We assumed Roomorama put service as their priority.

Overall, the experience booking with Roomorama was hassle free, easy and convenient. We enjoyed our stay in Singapore with Roomorama. For those who are looking for long term stay, Roomorama is something you can consider. We are not going to say anymore, just check out Roomorama.com!

It was the SweetSpot and the shop is located at the atrium of Tower 3.

On top of their beautiful cakes, their macarons were the ones that we were craving for. With so many choices, we bought one each. We were definitely spoilt by the choices.

We bought a few dozens of macarons with every six of them packed nicely in a very beautiful box. It was a perfect gift for my family as they adore macarons. Hence, if you are in Marina Bay Sands Singapore, you must try the macarons of SweetSpot.

For the first time this year, Rachel travelled to Singapore alone and she had a little adventure of her own. We were supposed to travel together however due to work, Rachel had to travel solo.

She went there for a wedding and also for a small travel assignment for our blog. We are humbled and grateful for our sponsor Roomorama.com for our stay in this trip. We will blog about the experience there for our readers.

While Rachel was wondering around Chinatown, she spotted a beautiful Chinese temple. It looks like as if the temple is relocated from China. Rachel took this beautiful picture with a Panasonic Lumix TZ15.

The temple is called the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple and Museum. The temple is based on Tang dynasty architectural style and it cost $63 million to build it. It is designed by Venerable Shi Fa Zhao.

The five storey temple has a lift inside. Rachel didn’t venture all the floors.

In one of the halls, there were Buddhists praying while certain halls exhibit relic of Buddha.

It is claimed that the relic of Buddha was found in 1980 in a collapsed stupa in Myanmar. Since the temple opening, the Venerable Shi Fa Zhao designed temple has become a popular attraction within Chinatown and Singapore.

Rachel loved the design and the architecture of the temple. It could be a coincidence or fate to spot a beautiful temple like this in Chinatown Singapore. No matter you are Buddhist or not, this temple is worth a visit.

We all know Singapore has one of the “most complete” transportation systems in South East Asia. Light Railway Transit (LRT), Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) and public busses are all interconnected covering throughout the island. As tourists, traveling in Singapore never could have been easier.

However, to go each and almost every tourist destinations, the best way is the Funvee Singapore City Tours Sightseeing buses. Let’s not go details on how we planned our city tour via MRT. Traveling up and down via MRT and some of the attractions might need to take additional busses to reach.

So we decided to try the Funvee Singapore City Tours Sightseeing bus as recommended by my friends. It is truly convenient as they picked us up in our hotel (except Katong area) and drop us at the transit point at Singapore Flyer.

There are four main routes we can go via Funvee. Dozens of stops available on each route, please refer to the timetable schedule below for more info.

Murray Terrace.

Each bus stop location in Singapore is given a unique bus plate number (eg 09038 is the bus stop outside Midpoint along Orchard Road next to Orchard Visitors Centre along Orchard Road). Please check the unique bus plate number to ensure you are at the correct Bus Stop Location.

We enjoyed the open air top even though it was sunny. It was nice having some wind breezing through.

A beautiful pagoda style building near Orchard Road.

To be frank, we didn’t venture as much as we wanted to. However traveling with Funvee has never been easier.

In on our recent trip to Singapore, we went to Vivo City we visited Sentosa Island with Sentosa Day Pass with 13 attractions. We took almost the whole day venturing Sentosa with the pass. You can read the review on the day pass HERE.

After a long day, we were looking for a snack in Vivo City. We tried the Food Republic before so we wanted to try out something different. That’s how we spotted the Superdog.

At first, we hesitated to try out their hot dogs as we thought it could be just another hot dog chain but after we saw bacon in their menu, there was no turning back! We wanted to try something different than the usual Singapore food. Superdog also offers a variety of hamburgers on top of their hot dogs range.

We ordered the American Cheeseburger for S$5 (RM 12 / US$ 4). It wasn’t any extraordinary on the cheeseburger, typical beef patty sandwiched together with lettuce, tomato and cheese.

Then, we order the Bacon Ripper for S$5 (RM 12 / US$ 4) and we top up to a regular set for $ 2.50 (RM 6 / US$ 2). Delicious hotdog topped with bacon and onion. This can be very addictive, trust me. It is really hard to get bacon hotdog in Malaysia so having Superdog’s bacon hotdog was satisfying.

So if you are at Vivo City, you might need to take shelter at the Superdog for good hotdogs.

The Captain Explorer DUKW (Duck) Tour Experience

I still remember clearly the first time I saw the“duck tour” vehicle in Sydney 10 years ago with Rachel and my cousin Sherry, I was like what was that? Then during my stay in Australia, I never tried the “duck tour”. That was a mistake but I won’t repeat it again.

Hence, my recent trip to Singapore I decided to try out their version of “duck tour”, the Captain Explorer DUKW tour with Rachel.

Why is it called the “duck tour”? This layman term means the “duck tour” vehicle is able to move on the road and sail on the water, just like a duck.

What is DUKW?

D is the vehicle designed in 1942, U means the “utility” (amphibious), K indicated the all wheel drive while W means two powered rear axles.

Believe it or not, this amphibious-type vehicle is used during the Vietnam wars by the Americans. The idea of having such vehicle to operate on the ground and on the water is to take the Viet Cong by surprise. However, due to its speed and its noise level, the whole operation was a failure. The vehicles then converted for commercial usages. Don’t worry as there are no blood stains or bullet holes on the vehicle.

Where can I join DUKW tour or Duck tour in Singapore?

In Singapore, everything is competitive and so is the duck tour. There are a few companies running the duck tour services but I chose the Captain Explorer DUKW Tour.

The Captain Explorer also offers the Funvee bus which offers hop-on hop-off bus services in Singapore so it is convenient for me to go with them. I hate running to different places as it waste a lot of time.

The Captain Explorer’s office is conveniently located at the Singapore Flyer. The advantage of joining the Funvee Tour is they offer transfer from the hotel to the Singapore Flyer. That saves us a lot of time and money too.

In the office, we were able to choose the timing and also the tour that we have booked.

Before we hop on the DUKW tour they show us the safety video in their office. This was to ensure our safety.

After watching the safety video, we were brought to the “duck tour” vehicle by the tour guide.

We were then briefed again for the safety measures. The tour guide was informative and he is very friendly. To think about it, we didn’t even tip him! How forgetful we were.

Cenotaph “Our Glorious Dead” Building view on DUKW

We started off from the Singapore Flyer and passed by historical buildings near Marina.

Marina Bay Sands view on DUKW

World Famous Raffles Hotel view on DUKW

Then we went near the Formula One Circuit Grandstand is where the yearly formula one night race is held. This year will be the third year Singapore hosting the formula one night and street race.

Next, was the fun part of the “duck tour”, there is a ramp where the DUKW slowly drove down to the river and we sailed like a boat. For first timers like us, it was really impressive.

Singapore F1 Grandstand view on DUKW near Marina Barrage

We sailed to the Marina Reservoir, built by the Singapore government a few years ago. The reservoir was very clean, not a typical reservoir in a city. Great job in keeping it clean and not polluted!

Marina Bay Sands view on DUKW

Marina Bay Sands view on DUKW

We took many pictures of Marina Bay Sands from many different angles but we never took it so close on the reservoir.

Singapore City view on DUKW

One Fullerton and city view on DUKW

After a turn on the Marina Reservoir, we sailed back and travelled back on the road again.

It was definitely a fun experience for first timers like us. It is nice to look at Singapore’s scenery from a different point of view. The most important of all is the tour operator is reliable and very strict on the safety measures. The guide was very informative and the whole journey was enjoyable.

We were glad we didn’t get wet. There are a few landmarks near Marina Barrage only can be view via DUKW tour, want to know more, see it by yourself!

We have blogged about the 13 Sentosa Attractions with Sentosa Play Pass and also Sentosa 4D Magix. There is also one of the top attractions in Singapore shall not be missed in Sentosa, the Underwater World Singapore. Opened since 1991, Underwater World Singapore has more than 2,500 marine animals of 250 species from different regions of the world.

Personally, I have visited a number of oceanariums which include Underwater World Langkawi, Aquaria KLCC, Melbourne Aquarium, Buengchawark Underwater Sea Paradise and Phuket Aquarium. To be frank, each oceanarium has its own identity so we wouldn’t mind visiting more oceanariums in our upcoming trips.

Getting to Underwater World Singapore is easy. Just take the blue line bus from the Beach Station, it is FREE OF CHARGE.

The first thing we saw after we went in is the” touch pool” after we got our tickets. Visitors are allowed to touch the sea animal gently at the touch pool.

Rachel went to touch a few stingrays.
Then, there is also a section called the “Feed the Sharks” near the entrance.

Next we went to the Dolphin Lagoon for the Meet the Dolphins and Fur Seals Session! It took us quite a while to get our seating as there were lots of visitors that afternoon.

The main attractions here are the pink dolphin, there were a few of them.

The trainers played with them for a while and did a few tricks with them.

The crowd loves them and the dolphin session was around 10-15 minutes session.

Right after the dolphin performance was the fur seals performance.

We went back to the oceanarium to start our visit. The Meet the Dolphins and Fur Seals Session should be at the end of the visit, we did it another way around somehow.

There is a huge glass cylinder with small marine dwellers that caught our attention. However, what’s next is more impressive.

We went on the 83 metre long moving travelator (the conveyor belt) into a tunnel of underwater journey. Can you see the Manta Ray?

It did not take long for the scenery to “wow” us. The numbers of the different ocean dwellers were amazing. The way they decorated the underwater journey here and the use of different lightings colours makes it visually spectacular.

I’ve heard there is a dugong there by the name of Gracie. We missed Gracie but we definitely did not miss the sharks. There were so many of them!

I am not a marine dweller expert but the the fish with the “horn” looks like a fish unicorn!

The jelly fishes are harmful but they do look translucent and vibrant here.

This is one of the attractions we did in Sentosa Island. Gosh, it is hard to believe a small island like this has so many places to visit. The Underwater World Singapore is a fun learning place for adults, kids or family.

This is actually our first time seeing pink dolphins, we wanted to see them in Bali but we didn’t have the time. Pink dolphins are rare and there is only a handful of oceanariums have them.

We will be writing a series of short posts on Sentosa attractions before we compiled altogether. Sentosa Island has been one of Singapore’s top attractions for years. I still remember the moments when I visited the island for the musical fountain show more than 20 years ago.
Lately, we decided to go to Sentosa Island again for a short visit. We went to the Sentosa 4D Magix “The Pirates”. For those who never been to any 4D show, it is basically a 3D show with “extra elements”. Since we can’t take any photographs or videos, just let me explain in short.

We watched “The Pirates” in 4D at Sentosa 4D Magix. It is a journey of adventure in 3D with additional elements like wind and water. The effects were in co ordinance with the events that was happening in the movie. It was entertaining and fun. Sentosa 4D Magix’s The Pirates is suitable for all ages and the children enjoy it. It is one of the attractions that suited well for families.

We enjoyed the show and also our wet faces at the end of the show.

Sentosa 4D Magix’s The Pirates is priced at S$ 18 for Adult and S$11 for Child.

Pass is valid for any show time throughout the same day.

For Singaporeans who will be traveling down by their own, please book the accommodation in advance. Last weekend, most of the hotels are fully booked due to the Arsenal vs. Malaysia and also Liverpool vs. Malaysia match. Book your accommodation early to avoid disappointment.

If you are driving to the stadium, please reach there early to avoid traffic jam. My advice is to reach there at least 3 hours in advance. You wouldn’t want to get stuck in a traffic jam with 90,000 people in a peak hour. There will be dozens of traffic police officers to guide you where to park.

For first timers who will be going to Bukit Jalil Stadium, please do take note that food, water bottles, any kind form of bottles, umbrella, weapons (common sense) or any harmful materials are not allowed to take in.

There will be RELA security forces and police forces checking each single bag after entering the gate to ensure security of everyone.

Please make sure you enter the right gate based on your ticket purchase. Gates are colour coded and I entered the wrong gate by mistake during the Arsenal vs. Malaysia match.

Toilets are all around the stadium and food is available within the stadium. Drinks that sold in the stadium are 100 plus, Coke and mineral water. Food is usually fried chicken nuggets, fried sausages, Ramly burger and snacks like Twisties and Cheezels. There is also food available outside the stadium but you can’t bring those in.

I hope everyone enjoys the information and comments will be much appreciated. Hope you all have a safe trip and enjoy the match. I won’t be watching as I will off for a travel trip. Come down to Kuala Lumpur early for good food and shopping, good luck and have fun!
