As I mentioned earlier that there are 3 nice lovely restaurants at Jalan Pudu Ulu itself. I introduced Chuan Kee and now this is Yap Chong. I went to this place quite often as I worked nearby. Located almost at the end of the road of old shop lots… this place has 3 shoplots but its small. If you don’t mind the apperance but going for the just the food, this is the one you can consider…
The fried dry butter “sotong” (squid) is crispy and nice… Even though its more like an appertizer but the crunchiness of this dish, is something you can’t resist…
The garlic steam fish here is also good…. Eating steam fish is the best way to know whether the fish is fresh or not…
The vege dish is nice also…
There’s one famous dish is the Amy Yip homemade taufu (beancurd). If you come late, its always sold out! With fried garlic and soya sauce, this is a must try!
Lastly, we had “kau yok” pork with yam. This dish is never easy to make. It involves quite a long cooking process and getting it along with yam is a tough one. This dish deserves a try as well…
This place is normally packed during lunch time and dinner. Dinner sometimes can be so packed until u need to wait for quite a bit. The price for this restaurant is very reasonable but service is very “chinaman” service. Food is always good here like Chuan Kee…

Reserved a table for mother’s day celebration. We were only 5 minutes late, and by the time we reached there, we were told that our table has been taken by other people. We went there with a few months old baby, and some elderly. Imagine how angry we were!!! They didn’t even try to find an alternative for us! Just said sorry.. your table has been taken! I boycott this restaurant!!! Good food… BIG DEAL!
We reserved a table at Yap Chong for mother’s day celebration. To our SURPRISE, our table has been given to other people! We were only 5 minutes late, and our reserved table has been given away WITHOUT prior notice! Imagine going there with a few months old baby with a few elderly, ended up we were told “sorry your table has been taken by someone else”! They didn’t even try to find a solution for us! BOYCOTT this place! Good food… BIG DEAL!! Will never go there again! Cannot secure a place eventhough booking. So what’s the point of making reservation??? RADICULOUS!
Please BOYCOTT this restaurant and they are really a cheater, we’d brought number of discounted vouchers and the promotion value valid through 4 February 2013. But when we wanted to utilize the vouchers on 2 February 2013 and they told us that our vouchers are very near to the expiry date and they don’t want to accept it!!!! But, when I asked them if I walk-in and willing to pay full price, would you accept me? To our surprise, they answered to us “YES, we only accept who can paid full price from now” WTH!!…. We hv paid for it in advance!!!! This is really RIDICULOUS!!!! They hv cheated our money!!!!

Sorry to hear your experience. We have not been dining there for more than 4 years. Well, they should honoured your discounted vouchers in my own opinion.
