Asahiplaza Shinsaibashi Capsule Hotel of Osaka, JAPAN Review: Elena’s Lost in Translation

This is a Guest Contributor’s story from a buddy, Elena Khoo. A client turned friend, Elena has traveled to various part of the world and her last year’s trip to Japan was a memorable one. Spent 14 days backpacking in Japan and traveled to 6 cities in 6 days, her trip to Japan was awesome!

Asahiplaza Shinsaibashi Capsule Hotel is the largest capsule hotel in Osaka and one of the largest in Japan. Capsule hotel is originated from Osaka since the first was opened in 1979. Ever since, the capsule hotel spreads to other parts of Japan.

Elena’s intention was clear which was to try out the capsule hotel at where it originated, Osaka. She went to Asahiplaza Shinsaibashi Capsule Hotel. The room rate was very cheap, it was around RM 120 or around 2,800 Yen. Together with her friend, they wasted no time to have their first capsule hotel experience.

Remember first thing first, always read the rules of the capsule hotel. Try to understand how it runs and respect the rules.

Before entering, always remember to put the bags and shoe into the lockers and changed to heavy slippers provided. It’s prohibited to wear your own shoe inside the capsule hotel.

There are 2 main sections inside the hotel, male and female section. Guests will be given an access card for the specific section only. Then, there will be a common bathroom and sauna area. Expect to see other guests in naked, the Japanese way. It is similar to the Japanese public bath room so it will take a while to get use to it. The sauna is free of charge. Anything else than sleeping will be chargeable, from electrical socket to TV show. No frills!

Chargeable: “Anything else” than sleeping will be chargeable!

The hotel is located in the center of Osaka Minami, American Village in Shinsaibashi and it is ideal for both business and sightseeing. Namba, Dotonbori, Minami Senba and Horie are all within walking distance of the hotel.

  1. Terrific work! This is the type of information that should be shared around the web. Shame on the search engines for not positioning this post higher!

    1. The guest space is reduced in size to a modular plastic or fiberglass block roughly 2 m by 1 m by 1.25 m, providing room to sleep. – Wikipedia.org

I hope this answer ur query. It is quite impossible for u to stay in there.
