Sunset Fun at Bakheng Hill, Siam Reap, CAMBODIA

There, we can see almost the whole area surrounding Bakheng Hill. It is amazing how the ancient kings designed and architecture the area. Like the rest, I reserved a spot for the sunset photography.

While waiting for sunset, I make friends with a few Japanese tourists. We had a lengthy chat and they were having fun taking pictures with Rachel. We also met new friends from Germany and Canada.

After waiting for almost an hour, I got the shot I wanted. Smartly, we left the area before dark.
We wouldn’t want to get caught in between with the crowd rushing down on the steep steps. Slowly we walked down the hill and we were greeted with cold mineral water bottles from the guide. He deserved to be heavily tipped!
How to get to Bakheng Hill:
1. Pay the Angkor Wat Entrance Fee
The entrance fee for a day is US 20 and a 3 days pass would be US 40. Get the 3 days pass, 1 day is never enough for Angkor Wat, trust me! The front counter will print the pass with your picture and please make sure you keep your pass with you. There will be people checking your passes in front of all temples in Angkor Wat region. No passes, no entry.
2. Tour Guide Fee
In April 2010, the fee for an English speaking guide is around US$ 25 per day (with limited hours). The tuk tuk fee should be around US 12 per day (with limited hours). Tour companies will have different rates depending on transportation and how many temples you going to cover.

Was a good experience for me too when I went up there… but after all, a terrible sunset was my result. But the climb up was fun.

cool, i visited Siam Reap and Phonm Penh in March 2010. I had a great time there and we stayed at the Lotus Resort in Siam Reap and the California Guesthouse in Phonm Penh.
