6. Perito Moreno Glacier, El Calafate

El Calafate, a town named after the famous Argentine black berry. It is located near the famous Perito Moreno glacier. Named after the 19th century explorer Francisco Moreno, Perito Moreno spans 250 km2. It is the largest glacier in the region and one of the most important tourist attractions in Patagonia Argentina.

The Perito Moreno Glacier. The gigantic glacier is located in between mountains!

We spent a full day visiting Perito Moreno Glacier at the Perito Moreno National Park by cruise and also by driving up to the mountain to have the best view of Perito Moreno glacier. Many tourists from around the world gathered here to see the glacier. The best way to go to El Calafate is by air.

  3. I’m planning a trip to South America and have a month to give. The places I’m interested in are Peru, Chile, Argentina (including southern Argentina and Patagonia), an excursion to Antarctica (4-5 days) and southern Brazil. I understand this will involve a lot of traveling, I’m just curious, from experience, how much time I should try to spend in each place, and where to visit outside of the obvious (Buenos Aires, Santiago, ect.). Thanks!

  4. Hi there,

Excursion to Antarctica will take 11 days. I don’t think you have enough time for other countries if you are planning to visit Patagonia. It took me two weeks in Patagonia and one week in Buenos Aires.
