Cloudy Night on Philip Island, Victoria, AUSTRALIA

Cloudy Night on Philip Island, Victoria, AUSTRALIA

I love stargazing. I would spend hours on the beach of islands sometimes watching the beautiful night sky filled with stars. I used to have such luxury of night scene in Wagga Wagga, New South Wales, Australia. However, I didn’t know how to use a proper camera back then.

Living in Kuala Lumpur has no chance for stargazing. The sky is either too bright or it is just too cloudy to see any of the stars.

Yesterday, I had the chance again. Before I went to sleep, I saw the beautiful night sky filled with stars. I borrowed a camera tripod from Rainer, my guide and took my chance. It turned windy and cloudy and I managed to capture a few good ones. This is my personal preference.

Image is shot with Canon 50D, ISO 1600, f-10, 30 sec on Tamron 24mm. Image is level and contrast adjusted.  It was very windy as you can see the movements of the clouds within the 30 sec time frame.

I will be trying my luck tonight in Mornington Peninsula, Victoria. Thank you for reading.

  1. Guess you’ll be visiting lots of places familiar to me in the next few days.

It was on this island, at the Penguin Parade, not only I could see clear sky with stars. I could even spot the Milky Way – a spectacular scene.

  2. no regrets studying in wagga2, awesome night view..only then i understand when they say moon can brighthen the night and act as a torch on the road when they are no street light..

  3. Try your luck and see if you can spot a shooting star. I was once in Grampians, Victoria and that place is simply amazing for star gazing! My most memorable star gazing place is still Australia!
