I just came back from the Matta Fair August 2011 at PWTC Kuala Lumpur. It was tiring but an entertaining Matta Fair.
I have learn my lesson in March after getting myself stuck in a horrific traffic jam in PWTC by driving there. Thus, this time around I took the Star LRT to PWTC station and took a 5 min walk towards PWTC.
As soon I reached the outside of PWTC, I was “awe” by the huge advertisement banner by Reliance Travel.
Yes, and they employed this group of cosplay heros as their promoters for their theme.
Before even I walked in, there is the Air Asia booth located there. Look at the crowd.
After purchasing my tickets, I immediately went into Hall 3, the domestic hall and easily I spotted Tourism Malaysia and Cuti-cuti Malaysia booth. They were offering information and details on holidays top spots in Malaysia.
For those who fancy Borneo, Sabah Tourism Board is also located in front of the entrance of Hall 3. Then, I walked across to Hall 1 to look for my friends in Tourism Authority of Thailand booth.
If you are planning to go to Krabi, Phuket, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Hua Hin, Bangkok and Pattaya, this is the best time to travel. Krabi and Phuket is having their peak season with minimal rain while Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai will be having their cold season. Tourism Authority of Thailand booth is located in Hall 1 beside the stage. I will be traveling to Krabi end of this year for our family holiday and a took lots of information from TAT booth in Hall 1. I am also planning for another few short trips to Thailand next year.
Holiday Tours again promoting their superstar deals involving Club Med. Buy One Free One with and without ticket deals. One of their latest package is the Japan’s Sahoro Club Med Buy 2 Days Free 2 Days Deal. They also have another booth selling Australia packages. Both Holiday Tours are located in Hall 1.
PNL travel is also offering great Australia packages. I bumped to my friends from Tourism Australia here and had a great chat with them.
Tourism Turkey is also offering great deals in Hall 1. Turkey’s hot air balloon tour is one that cannot be missed!
KNTO or Korea National Tourism Organization has two booths in Hall 1. Winter Korea is something to look for.
JNTO or Japan National Tourism Organization is also heavily promoting their Japan packages. City and package tour information are available here. Apple Tours is also selling their Japan packages hot deals. Both booths are in Hall 1.
Time for Taiwan? Taiwan Tourism is selling heavily this time around. With good food and many theme packages, Taiwan is offering great tour packages to look for.
If you feeling tired during the fair, go to the stage area and enjoy the performance on stage. This few Koreans were demonstrating their drawing skills by drawing 3 heros from the story the Three Kingdoms on the spot.
There are also performance by Thai dancers specially flown in for this event.
Fancy dresses or killer looks? This performers from Tourism Indonesia added colours to the event.
After visiting Hall 1, I went to Hall 2 and saw a long queue. They were queuing up for their free hot coffee at Tourism Indonesia. Tourism Indonesia is offering hot deals and packages to Sulawesi, Bandung, Jakarta, Medan, Bali and many more. Feeling tired and sleepy, go grab their free coffee in Hall 2.
Have you heard of buying travel packages and get free laptop? I heard this when I bumped into my old friend who bought this package. I got a shock when I heard about this deal.

Personally, I traveled with Hwajing before in 2005 for their RM 99 3D 2N Phuket tour, 3 months after tsunami. The tour was alright.

This Matta Fair has been an interesting one. Mexico opened a booth in Hall One and Ecuador also participated in Hall 2. It is a good sign to see the two countries from America joined Matta Fair and remember to grab information from them.
