Ampang Homeland Yong Tau Fu
Recently, I have acquired a new client in Ampang so I have been visiting Ampang quite frequently especially during lunch hour. It was not pure coincidence when I blogged about the famous Soo Kee and Dapur Penyet, both are equally good and recommended.
When u mentioned about Ampang most famous food, only yong tau fu comes into the mind. Usually I will go for Foong Foong Yong Tau Fu, a place that I have been visiting for more than 20 years. However it was an off day for Foong Foong, so I go for Ampang Homeland Yong Tu Fu.
To be frank I had never step foot in this outlet before so it was my first time there after so many years. It was not that packed and quickly we made the order for the two of us (with my friend). The interior of shop was the old half wooden shop lots that are plenty around the area. This part of Ampang is a majority Chinese area where they had been living there for decades.
We ordered the usual mixed combinations of yong tau fu of stuffed brinjal, chili, lady’s finger and tofu. The brinjal was not too soft the rest were pretty decent.
Then we ordered the deep fried yong tau fu such as bean curd roll and fried dumplings. I guess you can’t go wrong with deep fried food. It was addictive as usual.
The star of the lunch was not the yong tau fu but their deep fried pandan chicken. It was heavily flavoured with turmeric and strong scent from the pandan leaves and this fried chicken was really good. We ordered a second plate after this. I must agree that this has been one of the best deep fried pandan chickens I tried for a very long time. Glad that I tried out this restaurant as well and it didn’t disappoint me. It was not something fancy but enjoyable for the tummy.
