After the year of Dragon, 2013 embraced the new Lunar Year, the Water Snake. For those who are looking for authentic Shanghai cuisine with comfort in the mind, Shanghai is the perfect choice. A classical Chinese interior with silver lining services, you will find dining in Shanghai a pleasure.

Let me share some of the highlights of the CNY menu in Shanghai. Shall we start with a not so Shanghainese style of Yee Sang?

If you are bored with the usual yee sang with “sang” fish, salmon fish or abalone, try the (鸿福捞生) Jelly fish yee sang. The difference is not just the jelly but also the overall ingredients used. Most notable is the plum sauce infused with wasabi. Something new to spice up your taste buds!

水笋焖红烧肉

Braised Shanghainese pork with fresh bamboo shoot

(金陵咸水鸭) Salted duck is something different than the usual Chinese New Year dish that you can find everywhere else. If you look at the texture, you know this is something different than usual.

Of course, Shanghai offers other scrumptious dishes that you can never imagine. You should book your table now for your Chinese New Year celebration before it is fully booked. Menu prices start from RM 188++ per pax and you won’t be disappointed at all!

If one asked me on where is the most authentic Shanghai origin food, it should be Shanghai by JW Marriot Kuala Lumpur.
