Wong Kee Best Siew Yoke in Malaysia

This highly regarded siew yoke (roast pork) lives up to its reputation when I visited this restaurant a few weeks ago. There is no other than Wong Kee in Pudu, Kuala Lumpur.

The restaurant is listed under CNN Travel’s Kuala Lumpur Top 20 Restaurants. You might be thinking what an honour for Wong Kee to be in the same list with restaurants such as Frangipani and Lafite. Well, if you tasted their siew yoke, you won’t be surprised at all.

 

The restaurant is hidden in the inner roads of Pudu. It is located at 30, Jalan Nyonya off Jalan Pudu and it is a corner lot restaurant. Around noon, the restaurant is usually packed waiting for their darling siew yoke to be served sharp at 12.30 pm, not even a single minute earlier.

I didn’t ask the name of the owner but he automatically posed for my camera when I start snapping him doing his work.

I ordered two plates of pork, one plate of char siew and one plate of siew yoke. The Char Siew (BBQ Pork Belly) was pretty good, meat was tender and the taste was good.

The siew yoke was next. If someone told you that siew yoke (roast pork belly) can melts in the mouth at Wong Kee, it is real. The skin was crispy while the meat literally melts in the mouth.

It was as good as everyone said. Trust my words as I never tasted any siew yoke better than this. This is the best siew yoke in Malaysia, or Asia or even in the world. If you have any restaurants that offer siew yoke better than this, please drop a comment so I can visit them. Please don’t recommend somewhere that it is hard for me to travel to.

The best thing about Wong Kee is their legendary siew yoke but the bad part is it is very expensive. The plate of siew yoke in the picture cost more than RM 30 per plate. However, I have no complains as you pay a good price for magical food. Wong Kee is a must visit restaurant in KL for those who wants to try those magic siew yoke!
