Originated from Klang, bakuteh is the pride of Klang Valley. Even though it is copied and sold in Singapore, the taste is different than the original in Klang. Bakuteh from Klang offers thick herbal tea flavour soup with different parts of pork. Singapore’s version is lighter in taste but spicier with black pepper.
Bakuteh means “pork ribs tea” and it is originally serves in the morning for the labours in Klang. To have the energy for the whole day, you need a heavy food to start with. That’s why it is best taken in the morning.
Bakuteh can be found in food courts/outlets or restaurants in KL.
There is dry version but I prefer the original. The dry version modifies the taste and it turns out to be spicier and flavourful. Even though some prefer the new dry version of bakuteh, it still lacks the taste of bakuteh.
The best bakuteh comes from Klang and one of them is Pao Xiang.

These are my ideal list of top 20 Chinese Food in Kuala Lumpur. There are many other food that didn’t make the list. The list includes Assam Laksa, Char Kuey Teow, Oh Chien, Fried Lobak, Dim Sum, Chee Cheong Fun, Popiah, Fruits Rojak and many more. The exclusion of assam laksa is unfortunate as I prefer to put popular food in KL as KL’s bred food even though they might not be popular.

The LAM MEE doesn’t taste like 1997-1999. When reach 2004 it sucks, always missing that 1 particular taste. Don’t know why people still crazy for it.
