Last but not least, the most significant Melaka food is Cencaluk! Cencaluk is a pure Melaka food made of fermented small shrimps. It is the darling of locals and usually used as condiments together with chillis.
Cencaluk usually sold in glass bottles and they are pink in colour (due to the colour of the small shrimps). One of the popular food with cencaluk is the cencaluk omelette. My grandmother loves cencaluk as condiment but it is high in cholesterol though.
Cencaluk is available in more dry food shops in Melaka as well as in Jonker Street. The best cencaluk comes from Melaka so you definitely need to buy one of them.
