Salted Egg Yolk Croissant at Le Bread Days Café

Asians love salted egg yolk (usually duck egg). We use salted egg yolk in our food such as crabs, prawns, mantis prawns, buns, baos and even on char kuey teow. Recently, there is a big craze on this salted egg yolk croissant in a bakery in Petaling Jaya and the name of the place is called the Le Bread Days Café.

The craze started from Rebecca Saw, a fellow blogger who blogged about the salted egg yolk (molten) croissant in November and it went viral. Thus, there was a long queue daily and the bakery was unable to produce enough salted egg yolk croissant in time and there were many negative reviews followed. After two months and the craze slowly died off, I went to Le Bread Days Café in the late afternoon today and purchased four salted egg yolk croissants without any queue at all. The bakery was half empty and maybe because it is early of the year, many are either in the office or waiting to pick up the kids.

So each Molten Egg Yolk Custard Croissant is priced at RM 6.90 (before GST) and I bought four, packed it and bring it home to eat.

I took one, tear it opened and the molten egg yolk custard slowly flowing out. Creamy it is and it is very tasty.

Now, I understand why so many are willing to queue for this. The croissant is perfectly baked, crispy outer layer, soft and the molten egg yolk custard is creamy and addictive. This is really finger licking good.

Is it worth the visit to buy the molten salted egg yolk croissant at Le Bread Days Café?

Indefinitely yes and I will buy more for my parents to taste one day. I am not sure they are still limiting five pieces per customer but the queue wasn’t there anymore or today is my lucky day.

  1. Ah yes the infamous Salted Egg Yolk Croissant! It’s been raved on social media so much but it’s great that it is up to expectation. Will definitely drop by when I am in town and grab some to taste!

  2. Salted Egg Yolk Croissant seems like all the rage now, which I don’t understand at all. I don’t like egg yolk, let alone one from salted egg. LOL

  3. i would die for custard! it’s my favourite and i have heard so much about it but have not brace myself to wait in the line, so haven’t tried it out yet.
