Kajang Happy Happy Bread Bakery Durian and Cheese Tart

For the folks in Kajang, you don’t need to drive down to Subang or Petaling Jaya or Kuala Lumpur for your Japanese baked cheese tarts as you can find one in the city. The bakery is called Happy Happy Bread Bakery and they are located at Jalan Berjaya 10, Taman Berjaya in Kajang (facing the empty parking lot).

This Japanese baked cheese tart started by Hong Kong’s Tokyo Secret and then it continues with Hokkaido Baked Cheese Tart. Then, Pablo is coming in from Japan and the other local boys joined the bandwagon. Lavender did some really good cheese tart while John King’s version is nothing to shout about. We heard Uncle Tetsu is starting to sell baked cheese tarts too and we wonder who else will join this baked cheese tart craze.

Thanks for the power of social media (Facebook), Happy Happy Bread Bakery now becomes an instant hit. You can find long queue of customers waiting for their freshly baked cheese tarts.

They have two sessions for baked cheese tarts and durian tarts daily, 12 pm to 2 pm and 6 pm to 8 pm. The evening crowd is more as the locals will buy them after work comparing to the lunch crowd.

They named their cheese tarts as half baked cheese tart and they sell durian cheese tarts also. A pack of six cheese tarts is RM 20 per pack and RM 25 per pack for durian cheese tarts.

The size of their cheese tarts are slightly smaller than Tokyo Secret, Lavender and Hokkaido tarts. The crust slightly thicker but it is fragrant and crusty.

The baked cheese tart is delicious even though the filling is not that much due to the size but it is enjoyable. My mother loved this also.

For their durian cheese tart, we had a few that is not fully baked so the crust was too soft and easily break. A few minutes toasting in a mini toaster will do the job. By adding durian with cheese, the filling becomes heavy so the crust cannot maintain its mould. However, the taste is still good and love the durian filling. Don’t expect D24 or Musang King durian filling but this is as good as it can get.

No regrets buying the baked cheese tart and their durian cheese tart. If you stay in Kajang, this is definitely worth the trip rather than traveling downtown. We find the tarts enjoyable and will definitely buy again if we are in Kajang.

Remember there are two sessions for baked cheese and durian cheese tarts.

12pm – 2pm and 6 pm to 8 pm.
