We visited Tokyo twice and lucky to have locals to bring us around. One of the places that you should visit in Tokyo is Ameya Yokocho or better known as Ameyoko Shopping Street. This is a must visit place for bargain hunters.
Ameyoko shopping street is located in the district of Ueno Tokyo. Compare to my first visit three years ago, there are more tourists now (especially tourists from China). There are four train stations near Ameyoko shopping street and they are Ueno train station, Keisei Ueno station, Okachimachi station and Naka-Okachimachi station.

What you can find at Ameyoko shopping street is out of season good such as fashion, sports apparels, shoes and food!
From what we know is all the shopping items here are genuine but only out of season stocks. You can really find good deals especially out of season sports apparels.
We got some really good deals on the sports apparels especially Japanese football jerseys. Please take note that there are multiple floors within these shops so you can go floor by floor.
Most of the sellers here can speak simple English and Chinese (due to the tourists) so do ask for assistances. Some of the shops accept cash only and some they accept credit cards. Please ask before purchase.
The feeling of shopping at Ameyoko shopping street is similar to Pratunam of Bangkok but it is more spacious here.
There is street food here but we didn’t manage to taste them as busy finding good deals.
For those who are looking for cheap Japanese snacks, this is your playground. There are a few supermarkets at Ameyoko Shopping Street selling Japanese snacks and food at cheap prices.
