We had Huawei Mate 20 Pro with us like a couple of months for review and we took thousands of photos and dozens of videos. Before the launch of new Huawei P30 phone in Paris end of the month, let us show you why you should buy Huawei Mate 20 Pro for its camera capabilities.
There are a few camera features of Huawei Mate 20 Pro that impressed us and that is the ultra-wide angle and the night mode. The AI Mode is good but it slows down the camera function and it over processed the photos.
The night mode is extremely to use and you just need to click and the phone will show many seconds it takes to captured the light. Usually the first two seconds is to capture the subject and the remaining time is for the AI to capture lights and make the image brighter with more details and colours.
This night mode feature is good enough to convince anyone to purchase the Huawei Mate 20 Pro. You need to have steady hands for the first two seconds and the AI will do the rest.
The AI will usually calculate the centre object of the image and if it is dark, it might take up to 15 seconds. There are also options to control the timing of light capture.
You don’t need 10-15 secs for night mode, usually it will take 4-5 seconds to capture the entire picture and it is good enough. We have taken many night mode photos in various countries so enjoy the pictures. The pictures are no edit and no filter (just added our logo).
We know the Huawei Mate 20 Pro can capture milky way but you need a tripod and exposure probably 20-30 secs. We saw our friends did it so can you.
Another trick is to use the Night Mode during day time to give the maximum HDR effect. You will be surprised with the results of using night mode during day time.
Overall, Huawei Mate 20 Pro is a lovely phone to use especially for photography and videography. The phone is light and it is fast, the battery can keep up more than a day even you are heavy user. For use, we love three things, the ultra wide angle mode, the zoom mode and the night mode. Even with the new Huawei P30 launching end of the month, Huawei Mate 20 Pro is already a very good phone for photography.
