This is another sad news to share. Macau famous Firma U Tac Hong is closing down tomorrow. Firma U Tac Hong offers probably the best tofu (beancurd) and tau fu far (soy bean dessert) in Macau. They also opened a second outlet called Soja u Tak Kei to accommodate their customers. Both restaurants are popular place among the locals but not known to tourists as they are not in popular tourist spots.
We got to know this place thanks to our friend Michael who is working in Macau. He brought us to Firma U Tac Hong five years ago and we blogged about it too.
He told us that Firma U Tac Hong and Soja u Tak Kei will be closing down tomorrow, 29th July 2019 due to a few factors. It is harder to hire workers and the earnings are not that much. Thus, the next generation are not keen to take over as these are handmade so it is not an easy task.
Traditional shop like Firma U Tac Hong finds it hard to survive as profit margins are slim with high operating costs. There are similar popular traditional restaurants in Hong Kong closed down due to similar reasons such as Lok Yuen Beef Ball King樂園牛丸大王.
Today, many locals flocked to Firma U Tac Hong and Soja u Tak Kei but everything was sold out in the afternoon. Tomorrow is the last day for Firma U Tac Hong and Soja u Tak Kei and we are sure it will be packed too.
