Sanrio Hello Kitty Town is a licensed franchise from Japan. The characters are flown from Japan and they are not local produce.
The performers are sent to Japan to train before they can perform at Sanrio Hello Kitty Town. They are committed to give guests 100% experience like what you can get in Japan. That is why the operating cost is not cheap.
Remember Hello Kitty Gourmet Café in Sunway? They opened for two years before they closed shop too in 2017.
