Malaysia Airlines Deny Chinese National Checking In Flight from Bangkok to Malaysia

We were in Bangkok flying back to Malaysia via Malaysia Airlines yesterday after a couple days traveling in Thailand. The Suvarnabhumi Airport was busy even though there were lesser Chinese Nationals in the airport. While waiting for our turn to check in our flight, we overheard the conversation between a Chinese National who was trying to check in Malaysia Airlines flight from Bangkok to Kuala Lumpur Malaysia.

The Malaysia Airlines front desk officers deny her checking in into the flight as Malaysia will not allow entry for ALL People Republic of China (PRC) Passport Holders and other nationalities with recent travel history to Wuhan City, Hubei Province, Zhejiang Province and Jiangsu Province within the last 14 days or passport states/shows PLACE OF ISSUE is HUBEI, JIANGSU OR ZHEJIANG or passport holder that states/shows PLACE OF BIRTH is HUBEI, JIANGSU OR ZHEJIANG. You can read about the travel restrictions at https://www.malaysiaairlines.com/my/en/advisory/coronavirus-entry-restrictions.html and https://www.malaysiaairlines.com/my/en/advisory/preventive-measures-and-travel-recommendations.html

This is the actual situation, we have mosaic their faces.

There was no heated conversation as the Malaysia Airlines front desk officers slowly explain the restriction to her. After some time, she left the Malaysia Airlines counter.

It was around 30-40% passengers on board yesterday

We respect the professionalism by the Malaysia Airlines front desk officers at Suvarnabhumi Airport. Firstly, it is important for the front desk officers to check all the relevant details of the passenger to whether they are restricted to check in. Next, they handled the whole episode professionally and the passenger understands about the travel restriction imposed by the airlines.

In another scenario if the front desk officer allows her to board the plane, the Chinese national could potentially bring the virus on board and she will denied entry in KLIA and she had to pay her own flight back to any destinations that allows her. That will bring more risks and problems for the Chinese national. If she travels on the same plane with us, we will be quarantined for the next 14 days and missed our next travel assignment.
