We stumbled upon Katsuya Tonkatsu Restaurant Ikebukuro Tokyo from one of the solo trips to Japan thanks to cheap airfare via AirAsiaBIG. I went to Tokyo for a few days hoping to create a budget story but things didn’t work out well. The flight got delayed and I was stranded in Ikebukuro and found one capsule hotel to stay and my costs went up and the budget story didn’t materialise.

After check out of the capsule hotel, I looked for breakfast before I go check in into my Airbnb apartment, I found Katsuya Restaurant. The restaurant is located opposite Ikebukuro Train station.

Katsuya Restaurant is one of those cheap eat tonkatsu restaurants in Japan so the prices are very affordable.

We ordered the tonkatsu promo set with soup for less than 500 Yen. The pork cutlet is deep fried to flaky crispy outer layer with tender texture and even though it is heavy for breakfast but it is tummy warming. If you need a quick bite or a decent meal in Ikebukuro without breaking the bank, you can visit Katsuya Restaurant for Tonkatsu.
