TNR by Sean & Angie in SS2 Petaling Jaya

This is the TNR by Sean & Angie in SS2 Petaling Jaya. They called themselves the Real Char siew and some said this is the original Toast n Roast. Apparently, this is a story in between TNR by Sean & Angie with Toast N Roast but we just go there for the food. Family feud or not, we don’t care. We just want to try their famous char siew as recommended by so many people.

We went there during lunch time and luckily we managed to grab a table. Their specialties include Hakka noodle, wonton mee, roast pork (siew yoke) and of course their ‘premium’ char siew.

We ordered their Hakka Noodle Original with minced pork, Wantan Mee, Char Siew and Roast Pork combination. Check out their menu below so you know what they offer.

To be honest, we enjoyed their Hakka Noodle Original with minced pork. The noodles are well flavoured comes with generous amount of minced pork. If it comes with some pork lard, it will elevate the taste of this Hakka Noodle.

Like the Hakka noodle, their wantan mee comes with generous amount of minced pork. For the overall taste, we would prefer Hakka noodles over this. Don’t get me wrong, this is a tasty wantan mee but we craved for their Hakka noodle more.

Let’s talk about their char siew first. It comes with crackling crispy skin with tender meat and that is a good ‘siew yoke’ or roast pork. The texture of the meat is tender and not too soft and each bite of the skin will give the crackling sound. Roast pork is good.

Their signature char siew and this is what they called the real char siew. From the first impression, you can tell it is glazed with caramel and you know this is good.

The first piece of the char siew feels like first love, second piece feels like in relationship, third piece feels like in marriage while the forth piece feels like in divorce.

Their version of char siew comes with tender meat and it is almost melt in the mouth feeling with thick caramelised skin. The first few pieces you will enjoy it but after that you will feel that it is too sweet. This is my opinion and it doesn’t mean I don’t like their char siew. We felt that it is nice to have just a couple of pieces and when you take more you feel ‘jelak’ or overwhelming.

TNR by Sean & Angie in SS2 Petaling Jaya is definitely worth the visit for the Hakka noodles and their signature char siew. We like their char siew but in moderate level but if you do have comments on their food, please comment and let us know and I would love to hear about it. Thanks for reading.
