This is another quick shoutout for one of the set lunches we had at Nakamura-ya Granna Western Restaurant Shinjuku Tokyo Japan. They are located at 8th floor, Shinjuku Nakamuraya Building and we had this during our last trip to Tokyo.
We have checked that the set lunch menu they offer now is different than what we had. Please do understand that restaurants changed their set menu from time to time.
Most restaurants in Tokyo is always busy even though Nakamura-ya Granna is located on the 8th floor of Shinjuku Nakamura Building. There are many restaurants at this level and we picked this because they were offering set lunches.
This is not a popular food place, just a regular restaurant. We love to chill whenever we travel to Japan so we don’t really go to popular restaurants as it is always packed with long queue. We might visit one or two if some of our local Japanese friends helped us to book the restaurant but usually we focus more on traveling and experience in Japan.
This is a unique Japanese food and it is called the Hamburger Steak (Hamburga steak). Basically, it is the hamburger steak but in Japanese style.
The hamburger steak is covered with demi glace sauce which is rich brown sauce in French cuisine. The meat is not as fatty as the American version but it is flavourful and complement well with the mashed potato and the Japanese bun.
The omurice is the rice covered by the omelette with the demi glace sauce (the brown thick sauce). This is a very popular food in Japan and it taste really good also especially with the sauce. The demi glace sauce is a rich brown sauce in French cuisine and their version of omurice comes with cherry tomatoes.
Both are common Japanese food you can find almost everywhere in Japan. They localised the Western food so it comes with Japanese flavour as the locals enjoyed it. If you never tried the Japanese hamburger steak or their Omurice, it is highly recommend you do so as they are really comfort food.
Nakamura-ya Granna Western Restaurant Shinjuku Tokyo is one of the many restaurants that is located on upper floors of the building so do check out the building layout for the listing of restaurants. You usually find the popular restaurants and café at Ground Floor or Lower Ground Floor but there are more on the upper floors, this is quite common in Japan too.
