Bhumindhra Garden King Chulalongkorn Statue Sungai Kolok

Many Malaysians staying on the east coast of Peninsula Malaysia is quite familiar with Sungai Golok or Sungai Kolok of Thailand. It is a border town near Rantau Panjang Kelantan and it is separated by Sungai Kolok or Kolok river. We spotted the Bhumindhra Garden King Chulalongkorn Statue right after the Sungai Kolok Customs House.

For decades, Sungai Kolok is the place to visit for Kelantanese due to strict state laws which prohibits entertainment such as KTV or cinema. Many people will probably hangout or stay over the weekend for shopping, food or entertainment and hence not many people talk about the local attraction such as Bhumindhra Garden King Chulalongkorn Statue.

This is the monument of His Majesty King Chulalongkorn, the reign of King Rama V, is enshrined at the central altar of Suan Luang Phumin in the municipality of Sungai Kolok, Narathiwat Province of Thailand.

You can easily spot the King Chulalongkorn Statue in black bronze and it is  created by the Fine Arts Department around the year 1967 facing Malaysia.

It represents the majesty and mercy over the people of Siam who will protect the Thai land forever even though King Buddha Luang has passed away more than a hundred years ago.

At present, it is worshiped by the people of Sungai Kolok and general tourists, both Thai and foreigners.

On 23 October each year which is on the day of Piyamaharaj, the Governor of Narathiwat Province Along with the heads of government agencies, soldiers, police, local administrative organizations, village headmen, and people’s groups, all groups of people will lay wreaths in honour of King Chulalongkorn’s monument of King Rama V.
