Best Sunset View in Bangkok Mahanakhon Skybar

Where is the best sunset view in Bangkok? Well, there are actually a couple of them but one of the most memorable so far from all our visits in Bangkok is the King Power Mahanakhon Tower Skybar.

The Mahanakhon is located at 114, 1 Naradhiwas Rajanagarindra Rd, Silom and it is next to the Chong Nonsi BTS Station. There is a direct walkway from the BTS station to the building.

You can easily spot Mahanakon in Bangkok as it was the tallest building in the city. The skyscraper is located in Silom part of Bangkok with its unique mosaic structure and design.

Mahanakon is 314m tall and the sky bar is located at the rooftop on the 78^th floor. Due to its limited space on the skybar, you are advised to book your visit in advance.

The Mahanakhon Tower opened in 2016 and I visited the place last year before the pandemic starts and there are already people start wearing masks in public that time.

You just need to show your physical or virtual ticket for inspection and they will give you a physical ticket. There is a special elevator from the ground floor to top floor like many other towers around the world.

The best time to visit Mahanakhon Skybar is around 5-6 pm during sunset so you can capture the Bangkok in three different types of landscape and mood. From day time to sunset and magic hour and lastly, you can experience the Bangkok night skyline. This is the reason why we highly recommend everyone to visit an hour before sunset to experience the Bangkok landscape in three different scenarios.

There is the glass walking panel at the Mahanakhon Skywalk and you must wear the protective socks to protect the glass. This is thick see through glass and if you are not afraid of the heights, you can take some great photos here but usually it is packed with visitors.

At the Mahanakhon Skybar, you can have the spectacular 360-degree view of Bangkok’s glittering skyline. This is probably the best place to have the sunset view in Bangkok in our opinion. We have visited more than 10 Bangkok rooftop sky bars in the past.

We highly recommend everyone to have glass of Singha beer or cocktail when you are here at Mahanakhon Skybar. You can also try to book a table at the restaurant at Mahanakhon Skybar.

Visit the Mahanakhon Skybar with your family or friends and you will be mesmerised by the sunset view. You can also bring your expensive cameras or simply getting a good smartphone like Samsung S10 plus or S21 Ultra.

From what we understand, Bangkok is set to open to fully vaccinated tourists from October 2021. The exact date is not yet confirmed (or possibly delayed), the plans to open Bangkok for fully vaccinated tourists are there.

The Mahanakhon is just next to Chong Nongsi BTS station and this is the easiest and fastest way to get to the Mahanakhon. Remember to purchase the tickets online to beat the queue:
