Malaysians allowed to travel overseas from December says PM
We have been posting stories about Thailand lately and many people asked us, when Malaysians allowed to travel overseas? It seems like impossible this year until Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob recently mentioned that Malaysians allowed to travel overseas from December this year (not 2022).
He said that, ‘Malaysians will not only be able to cross between states, but will also be allowed to travel abroad by December.’
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob gave this assurance during a special interview with senior editors of national newspapers at the Parliament complex last Friday.
He was reported today by Mingguan Malaysia as saying permission for international departures will be given after the country achieves a 90% full vaccination rate among its adult population.
“Yes, December. It may be even earlier,” he was quoted as saying.
“We will open up the state borders to enable them to be crossed. Travel to other countries will also be opened up after we reach the 90% vaccination rate,” he added.
Looks like we have to renew our passport soon if we are allowed to travel overseas from December this year.
Many countries are opening their borders around the world which include Australia that plans to open their border in November 2021.
To be honest, we have no plans to travel overseas yet but Thailand seems the most likely destination as we have family and friends there. However, please do take note that Malaysians allowed to travel overseas from December applies fully vaccinated travelers with conditions depending on countries.
This is the compulsory way of traveling with the COVID vaccination passports but there are countries are still not recognizing Sinovac vaccinations. Please do check properly if you plan to travel overseas once the borders are opened.
