Guide of what to prepare before planning your trip to Thailand

Thailand is now resumed to open for vaccinated tourists from all over the world to visit effective from February 1st 2022 (previously, the government only allows travelers to visit. International travelers are welcome to enter Thailand under either Sandbox programs and Test & Go program. For Sandbox programs, a quarantine-free program that allow travelers to travel to approved destinations in Thailand for 7 days. As of now, there are “6 approved destinations” which is Phuket (Phuket Sandbox), Krabi (Krabi Sandbox), Surat Thani (Surat Thani Sandbox; Koh Samui, Koh Tao and Koh Phangan), Chonburi (Chonburi Sandbox; Bang Lamung, Pattaya, Si Racha, Si Chang, and Sattahip) and Trat (Trat Sandbox; Ko Chang).

For Test & Go program, an exemption from quarantine that allowed fully vaccinated travelers with a negative RT-PCR test result to enter. Travelers must take a second RT-PCR test on their first night and fifth nights of their stay at approved hotel such as SHA+ (SHA Plus) or SHA++ (SHA Extra Plus). After that, travelers are free to enter Thailand and travel around the country.

For any travelers who plan to enter to Thailand, through any programs either Sandbox programs or Test & Go program. Here is required documents to prepare in firsthand.

Insurance

Travelers must obtain COVID-19 insurance, which will cover the costs of COVID-19-related incidents if you contract the virus while in Thailand. A minimum of 50,000 US Dollar in COVID-19 insurance coverage is required.

Fit-to-fly Certificate

Travelers must also show doctor's original Fit-to-Fly certificate issued within 72 hours upon arrival. Note that, travelers must know Fit-to-Fly certificate together with the Covid-free Health certificate or COVID-19 recovery certificate.

Certificate of Entry (COE)

To enter Thailand and to travel around Thailand, the Thai government requires all inbound tourists with foreign and Thai passports to get a Certificate of Entry (COE). Also, to make things as simple as possible. Here is what we put together for a list of three easy steps you may follow to obtain your COE and bring it with you on your vacation.

  1. Prepare required documents for registering submission

According to Thailand entry requirements, there are 4 documents to prepare. Travelers must prepare a scanned digital copy of their passport as well as a copy of their Covid-19 travel insurance policy. Keep in mind that the insurance coverage should include a minimum of 50,000 US Dollar in coverage for Covid-19 treatment and medical expenses. Travelers must scan a digital copy of visa, whether it be a tourist visa, a non-immigrant visa, or a stay extension with a re-entry permit.

  1. Register and upload all documents

Next step is to fill out the Certificate of Entry Application Form (COE) and attach documents mentioned above. The application form for the COE can be found in the official website: https://coethailand.mfa.go.th/regis/start.

After that, fill out the form with a personal information, the contact information for the hotel where you plan to stay in Phuket, and the name of the person who will be in touch with you.

Then, scanned copies of your passport, Thai visa, vaccination certificate, SHA+ hotel confirmation, and Covid-19 medical insurance must be uploaded. Following the upload and verification of your papers, you will be given a 6-digit number created by the system which you will use to progress to the next step.

  1. Wait for an approval

After travelers submitted the documents, within at least 3 days, you will receive an approval email with from the embassy (if you are approved). If you do not get approval, check for the requirement documents again and resubmit it.

Confirmation of Accommodation

Travelers who join Sandbox programs in any 6 destinations need not required to stay at a specific quarantine facility. They must show a confirmation of their booking stay in any hotel or guesthouse that has been approved by the Thai Health and Safety Administration (SHA) and has been awarded the SHA Extra Plus Certification for 7 nights before flying to any other provinces in Thailand.

Travelers who join Test & Go program, On day 1 and day 5, all travelers who enter Thailand under Test & Go program must present proof of payments for 2 RT-PCR tests and accommodation such as SHA++ (SHA Extra Plus), SHA+ (SHA Plus), AQ, OQ, or AHQ as well as a prearranged transfer.

RT-PCR test

Travelers must undergo for RT-PCR test and get a negative test result issued within 72 hours before travelling. The second test, you must undergo for another RT-PCT test and get a negative test result during your stay either under Sandbox programs or Test & Go program.
