Mondo Italian Café and Restaurant
Mondo Italian Café and Restaurant Hoan Kiem, Hanoi
The beauty of traveling in Hoan Kiem or the Old Quarter of Hanoi is it is infested with many cafes and restaurants. There is a good blend of local Vietnames cafes or l cafes, for example the Mondo Italian Café and Restaurant.

While on our way to visit the Hoa Lo Prison, the old prison or also known as the “Hanoi Hilton”, we stumbled upon the Mondo Italian Café and Restaurant at Mondo 68 Quán Sứ Street. It is located just a stone throw away from the iconic prison.

We were there for breakfast and I ordered their Hot Chocolate for 60,000 VD (RM 8.5 / US 2.8). It was just an ordinary rich hot chocolate, nothing impressive.

Then, it was the Hot Coffee with Milk for 28,000 VD (RM 4 / US 1.30). Since Vietnamese loved their coffee, coffee is relatively cheap and they are pretty good. Surprisingly, Vietnam produces really good coffees in a very reasonable price.

I ordered the French Breakfast with boiled eggs, bread, pate, bacon, butter and side salad for only 60,000 VD (RM 8.5 / US 2.8). On top of coffee, the locals love pate too, you can find a good range of pate in supermarkets like Big C. Pate is is a mixture of cooked ground meat and fat minced into a spreadable paste. The pate was lovely and the bacons were sinfully delicious, I don’t mind coming back anytime for the French Breakfast.

Rachel ordered the Italian Breakfast with omelette with potatoes, onions, whipped cream, olive, ham, cheese, toast and side salad for 60,000 VD (RM 8.5 / US 2.8). The omelette was perfectly cooked and we were amazed by the quality and the standard of the breakfast in Mondo.

Mondo Italian Café and Restaurant has a few outlets throughout Hanoi and they are one of the proper restaurants with good food and good coffee. The service was good and the price was reasonable too, highly recommended!

Nice..the omelette looks good. So those olives are just for decorative purposes yes? Were there any in the omelette?

Hi Sy!
Those olives are real, they are delicious and they are not inside the omelette!

I love wandering the streets of Hanoi. It’s all a little chaotic for hubby though. He’d happily take up a seat in a nice cafe and spend the rest of the day there rather than brave the bikes, people, cars…
