Pattaya Floating Market Thailand

The rain was pouring like cats and dogs. The sky was gloomy and we tried to wait for the rain to stop but it didn’t. We had no choice but to go ahead to visit this place. We visited this place some time ago with the Tourism Authority of Thailand from Malaysia.

Wild, wild, wet. It was not the best day for us to visit the Pattaya Floating Market but we enjoyed it!

It was the Pattaya Floating Market, one of the latest attractions in Pattaya. Pattaya has been infamous for its beautiful beach, water sports and its nightlife but there are more than that. The Pattaya tourism board and the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has joint force to create more attractions in Pattaya and one of their baby projects is the Pattaya Floating Market.

Unlike the floating market in Bangkok, the Pattaya Floating Market is man-made floating market. It has an area of 100,000 sqm and separated to four sections. Each represents and sells items from four major parts of Thailand (North, North East, Central and South).

It is reported that 350 million baht had spent to create this market. That translates to around RM 35 million or around US$12 million dollars. The market has over 114 shops and water vendors selling from authentic Thai food and desserts to specialties from all over the country.

The entire market is built using wood and not much bricks and concretes were spotted. If it was not because of the rain, we would venture more within the market. In fact, I lost way inside the market and that shows how big were the market.

It won’t be complete if you didn’t indulged with the local food.

We spent some time enjoying the local food as well as buying souvenirs for family and friends. There are many shops to choose from and you might something you like. There are also boat tours available in the market, please do check for the rates.

It was definitely a wet adventure for us in Pattaya Floating Market. This is another hot spot for tourists or locals to spend some time in the beautiful town of Pattaya.
