Kok Beng Taiping Famous Chicken Rice

What to eat in Taiping? How about chicken rice? If you mentioned Kok Beng, most of the locals will know it. Located at 38, Jalan Kota, Taiping, the restaurant has been awarded as one of the top 10 chicken rice restaurants in Malaysia many years ago.

The restaurant opens at around 11 am and the chicken rice will usually be sold out around 2 pm. They offer roast chicken, Hainan style chicken and “char siew” (roast pork belly) with butter rice or plain rice. Thus, they also offer homemade soy bean as drinks which is very popular too and it comes with 1.5 litre bottles.

The restaurant is usually crowded and you might have problem with seating during lunch hour. Parking could be tricky too as it is located on the main road of Jalan Kota.

Everyone there is friendly and the prices of the food are slightly higher than the local food prices due to its popularity.  The restaurant is not air conditioned and you can tell that the owner has chopped probably thousands of chickens as the chopping board naturally turned to a cone size chopping board.

In my opinion, the chicken rice at Kok Beng is good and better than the average ones and is it worth a visit, why not? Check it out and do let me know if you like it.
