Chan Meng Kee Wantan Mee SS2

No, this is not the famous Lum Chung Kee wantan mee near Atria, we have not been there yet. This is another popular wantan mee in the same area. A short introduction to this popular wantan mee in SS2. Chan Meng Kee replaced the legendary Ho Weng Kee wantan mee a few years ago in SS2. The restaurant was at the same row at Lot 32 and now moved to Lot 44, Jalan SS 2/66, Petaling Jaya. Before moving to SS2, Chan Meng Kee made its name in Section 17 at now Restoran Mel’s Corner.

In our opinion, their famous wantan mee is due to their delicious char siew (caramelized pork belly), siew yoke (roasted pork belly) and their noodles. The char siew is grilled to perfection, caramelized on the outer layer with soft texture of the meat while their siew yoke offers crackling skin and tenderized meat. However, the noodle is not at its best, missing the el dente texture.

The wantan mee is incomplete with the bowl of wantans (dumplings). Malaysia’s version of wantan is usually filled with minced pork meat which is average size in this restaurant.

The portion here is generous as a plate of wantan mee with char siew, siew yoke and a bowl of wantans cost RM 10.50. Yes, it is pricey due to its popularity which is quite common actually in Klang Valley.

You won’t be disappointed with the quality and the taste of the food so this place is worth the visit. The restaurant is usually packed during lunch hours and most of the time you have to wait for tables. If you are a wantan mee lover, you can definitely give it a try.
