Hospital Baby Delivery Rates in Klang Valley

If you followed our Facebook Page, you know that we have two boys. The eldest is around three years old while the young one is couple of months old. We have not been writing much about parenting since we wrote about 12 Tips for Flying with Baby, Infant or Toddler and our Club Med Cherating experience with our eldest son.

How much do we need pay to deliver a baby in a hospital in Klang Valley?

Let’s start with our eldest son. He was safely delivered in Sunway Medical Centre. It was an emergency Cesarean Delivery with Epidural. Two nights stay in the hospital in a twin bed room and it cost us almost RM 10,000 (including all the fees, taxes and discount). That was in 2013.

For our youngest boy, he was delivered in Hospital Umra in Shah Alam last year. Again, it was an emergency Cesarean Delivery with Epidural with one night stay in hospital (single bed room) and it cost us around RM 6,000 (including all the fees, taxes and discount). That was in 2015. Hospital Umra is a private hospital and they have many experienced doctors with adequate facilities.

What we liked about Hospital Umra is they have many experienced doctors and Gynecologists. Thus, their charges are very reasonable and being a private hospital it is one of the cheapest in Klang Valley. Another important thing is the hospital have adequate facilities, the rooms are clean and they have many good nurses. They are highly recommended if you stay near the hospital which in Shah Alam area (opposite the Shah Alam Stadium).

It is not cheap to deliver a baby especially in private hospitals. Some government hospitals are semi-private so the charges vary from fully government owned hospitals. The choice in choosing government or private hospital is based on your ability (to pay) as well as your preferences (in areas or doctors).

The above rates are based on 2015/2016 and it is increasing every year. When we did the Emergency Cesarean Delivery in Sunway Medical Centre in 2013, it was less than RM 10,000 (all inclusive) and now it is RM 12,000 and an increment of RM 2,000 within three years. Same goes to diapers, baby products and confinement lady fees. It has increased quite a bit for the past few years. We hope this will help for your current or future family planning.
