1. Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building

Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building is one of the most popular places due to its lookout point. The lookout point is located at the top floor of Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building and it is just opposite of Shinjuku Washington Hotel.

The entrance fees to go up is free of charge but there could be long queue at certain times. The view from the top is breathtaking and spectacular. This is how Tokyo looks like from the lookout point.

2. Shinjuku Chuo Park

Next to Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building is the Shinjuku Chuo Park. It is a small park and there is a popular waterfall called Shinjuku Niagara Falls.

If you wake up early in the morning, you can jog or exercise at Shinjuku Chuo Park for some fresh air. There are many locals jogging, exercising here during early morning.

From our experience, it is better for you to book the tables if you want to sit nearer to the pond as it is quite packed. Most of the customers here are tourists and locals.

The food here is above average and it is all about the pleasure of catching your own food. There are set meals available and the food prices here are slightly on the high side.

This restaurant is located on the first floor in the hotel.

4. Tsukemen at Fuunji

Tsukemen is cold ramen with dipping sauce (usually pork broth) and it is a popular food in Japan. The best part of staying in Shinjuku Washington Hotel is it is near a popular tsukemen restaurant called Fuunji.

You have to queue for the best food in Tokyo and this is the queue for Fuunji for lunch. Fuunji is a small ramen shop and you have to queue to purchase the ramen ticket and wait for your seat.

We are not a big fan of tsukemen but we finished this. This is really tasty, the noodle is al-dente while the broth is thick and full of flavours. Make sure you dipped the noodle onto the broth before you eat it.

The best part is the price for the Tsukemen special is only 1,000 yen. There is also other ramen available but we will recommend their tsukemen. This is worth the 30 minutes queue and waiting.

5. Yodobashi Camera Shinjuku

For gadgets lover, you should visit Yodobashi Camera Shinjuku. This is one of the largest electronic shops in Tokyo.

At night, the neon lights turn this electronic shop to a colourful building. You can find the latest Japanese gadgets here with the best price.

This is opened in 1975 and this is the flagship branch of the national chain near Shinjuku Station. For gadgets lovers, you can spend hours looking at the latest and coolest gadgets with the best price they offer.

This is multi storey and you can really take your time finding the things you want to get. This place is a hidden gem and we can spend hours finding the second items at reasonable rates.

This is like a huge flea market departmental store. All the second items are packed nicely with the pricing. This is the place I will go whenever I travel to Japan now. This is a must visit in Shinjuku Tokyo.

This place is also known as ‘Sleepless Town’. Kabukicho is around 25 minutes walk from the hotel and you can take a taxi and the taxi fare is around 1000 Yen one way.

8. Selfie with Godzilla

When you are in Kabukicho, you will spot the Godzilla at Hotel Gracery Shinjuku and they are the same group with Shinjuku Washington Hotel.

The pubs here are very small and most of them charge entrance fees. Some pubs only allow locals maybe due to language barrier.

You can find many tourists here and it is the nightlife of Shinjuku you should experience.

10. Shinjuku Omoide Yokocho

Shinjuku Omodie Yokocho is another option for late night drink. This is another popular alley with bars and izakaya outlets.

Shinjuku Omoide Yokocho is near the Shinjuku Station and it is also nearer to the Shinjuku Washington Hotel. You can take a short walk to this area for a drink or two if you don’t intend to go to Kabukicho area.
