Our first trip to Nagoya Japan this year is with Thai Airways. You might be wondering, why Nagoya and why Thai Airways? First of all there is no direct flight from Kuala Lumpur to Nagoya and Thai Airways offered a very good deal.

There are two main reasons we want to explore Nagoya, to visit Shirakawago and Nabana no Sato. We planned this trip since last year as we spotted Thai Airways offered a very good deal. We flew from Kuala Lumpur to Nagoya via Bangkok with Thai Airways for RM 1,200 per person and RM 2,400 for both of us including taxes. Well, RM 1,200 for Thai Airways to Japan is a steal and we could have even pay more with budget airlines to Nagoya.

Malaysians love to fly direct from Malaysia to Japan direct and usually the airfares are not cheap. Do explore other airlines that offer one stop and it can be cheaper. We flew with Vietnam Airlines from Kuala Lumpur to Osaka via Hanoi for less than RM 1000 and this time with Thai Airways to Nagoya at RM 1,200. Use Skyscanner and search your trip to Japan that is more than 6 months away for cheap airfare.

Thai Airways: Kuala Lumpur to Nagoya (transit at Bangkok)

Thai Airways TG 644 – Bangkok to Nagoya (A350-900)

Time: 00:05 – 07:30

Thai Airways: Nagoya to Kuala Lumpur (transit at Bangkok)

Time: 11:00 –  15:40

Transit time: Almost 3 hours

Thai Airways TG 2419 – Bangkok to Kuala Lumpur (A320)

Time: 18:25 – 21:45

(Please take note that we took the longer transit flight as there are flights at 16:40)

We made a mistake by booking the later flight as we should take the 16:40 flight. Thus, we spent more time eating and chilling in the airport before our flight back to Kuala Lumpur.

The inflight food for Thai Airways economy class is good. It is better than many airlines in our opinion and the cabin crews are very friendly.

We don’t mind taking Thai Airways again to Japan (despite the transit time). The inflight entertainment and the inflight food are good. If you plan to fly to Japan from Kuala Lumpur, can try flying with Thai Airways.
