Qing Jie restaurant is one of the most popular restaurants in Hatyai Thailand. Qing Jie restaurant is popular with the braised pork leg, crispy roasted pork and pickled mustard soup with pork. They are located at Thanon Lamai Songkraw 1, Hatyai and the Google Map is at the bottom of this review.

The restaurant opens from 7.30 am to 2pm daily and it is usually packed during weekends. The tourists from Malaysia and Singapore loves to visit this restaurant and hence the long queue during weekends.

You can easily Qing Jie and his staffs busy cooking at the front of the shop. The queue can be long and it depends on your luck. Sometimes you get a table fast while sometimes you might need to wait for half an hour and longer.

It is quite common for restaurants in Hatyai to cook in front of their shop. Some customers enjoy watching them to cook and you can also see how they prepare the food with all the ingredients displayed. If you are worried about the hygiene of the kitchen, they showed it all to you.

We ordered their signature dishes and they are the braised pork leg, crispy roasted pork and pickled mustard soup with pork.

This is a popular dish in Thailand and you can find them in Bangkok too. What we love about the braised pork leg is the taste as well as the texture of the pork leg. Some prefer the lean meat but we preferred the balance of the meat, fat and skin. This complements well with the rice.

Why so many people like the Thai version of roasted pork? The crispy crackling skin texture. The texture of the meat might not as soft as the usual roasted pork ‘siew yuk’ but they offer crispier skin. If not mistaken, they deep fried the pork to create that crispy and crackling pork skin.

This is something unique we had at Qing Jie restaurant. This is the pickled mustard (salted vegetables / ham choi) with pork and pork intestines. If you like pickled mustard or pork intestines, you will enjoy this soup.

Overall, we enjoyed the food at Qing Jie Restaurant in Hatyai Thailand. If you are planning to visit them on weekends, be early or else you might need to wait.
