Kazuma Japanese Restaurant Concorde Hotel KL

Good news for Japanese food lovers in KL. The Concorde Hotel Kuala Lumpur officially opens its newest addition to the hotel’s dining options and it is called the Kazuma Japanese Restaurant on October 17, 2022.

As we know Concorde Hotel KL is popular with its good food and restaurants. Their famous dim sum has been popular for decades and the new addition is the Japanese restaurant Kazuma.

Guest Chef Tsutomu Haneishi

Kazuma simply means harmony, peace and serenity, Japanese dining with Guest Chef Tsutomu Haneishi and his team craft traditional Japanese cuisine utilizing market fresh produce and fresh seafood imported from Japan, complemented by a selection of sake. Treat yourself to a selection of sushi and sashimi by day and authentic perfectly grilled kushiyaki by night. For something quick, the value-for-money customised set lunch gets you going.

Open every Monday – Saturday for lunch and dinner, guests can savour the fine art of Sushi, simply fresh Sashimi prepared with finesse, an array of Japanese classics including  home-made Saba Ichiya Boshi (grilled seasoned & dried mackerel), Sukiyaki Nabe (stewed sirloin beef & vegetables with sukiyaki soup base), Unagi Kabayaki (grilled eel with sweet soy sauce), Tenzaru Soba (cold buckwheat noodles & tempura), Gyu Shabu Chasoba (cold buckwheat noodle with sliced half boiled sirloin beef, salad & poached egg).

We were lucky to meet Japanese Guest Chef Haneishi. The Japanese Guest Chef Haneishi who hails from Tokyo, has 40 years of culinary experience at several top restaurants and hotels in Japan, Indonesia, Egypt and Kuala Lumpur.

He brings to the table his signature creations –  Kazuma Seafood Salad (assorted raw fish with seaweed, vegetables & fried noodle), Tori Negimisoyaki (grilled chicken with miso paste & leek), Omu Rice (Japanese omelette rice), Camembert Cheese Harumaki (camembert cheese fried spring roll), Nabeyaki Curry Udon (hot udon with Japanese curry & poached egg served in claypot), Gyuniku Amiyaki (grilled sirloin steak with pan-fried vegetables served with Japanese sesame vinegar, spicy miso sauce & yakiniku sauce).

For the busy corporates, guests can choose exciting bento sets – Kazuma Bento, Sushi Bento or Beef Yakiniku Bento. Special set lunch created by Chef Haneishi is the Mix & Match Set Lunch (RM39.00  nett per set). For each set, guests can choose one main noodle and one main don. A value-for-money meal, RM39.00 nett set lunch is inclusive of salad, fruits and free flow of  green tea.

Ichigo Daifuku

To end the meal, enjoy desserts like Ichigo Daifuku (strawberry & sweet red bean mochi), Abekawa Mochi (mochi rice cake coated with soybean powder) and Yuzu Sherbet.

The cosy restaurant has a seating capacity of 66 persons. This includes 14 persons at the far end private dining room. Guests who love to sit back, enjoying drinks after a hard day’s work can chill at Kazuma’s bar offering sake, whisky as well as Japanese liqueur.

They also offer VIP room and please book early as there are limited rooms available. This is for guests who wants to dine with their family or friends or client in privacy.

Kazuma’s interior design is in reference to ‘Japanese residential architectural’ style. With lattices work wooden frame and ‘Shoji’ style windows acting as restaurant and private room dividers/walls create privacy without completely blocking out light and sound. Paper felt pendant lamps cast a dim glow in the restaurant, assisted by spotlights in setting the mood.

Warm palette of red fabric, which is symbolic of the sun and is linked to joy and happiness and beige tones, along with light colour wooden blinds and soft upholstery to create an intimate atmosphere.

The food here are really good. The sashimi here are very fresh and tasty while the other Japanese food we ordered is up to our expectation. Using the finest and freshest ingredients air flown from Japan and prepared with respect to tradition, Kazuma aims to deliver authentic Japanese cuisine for all.
