Thong Kee Café Taman Connaught Cheras

Thong Kee has been around since 1988 and they have been opening cafes around Klang Valley. They have one outlet at Taman Connaught Cheras and luckily they opened during GE 15 voting day. After doing our duty as Malaysians to vote for GE 15, we visited the Thong Kee Café Taman Connaught Cheras for the first time for brunch.

They are located at 31, JALAN CERDAS 1, TAMAN CONNAUGHT CHERAS. This is near the big field that you can see by the highway. They are located at the corner lot and parking is not easy to find here.

So what you need to do here is to queue first. They will get you a table number and you order. I like how this system works so everyone gets a seat once you ordered a food.

We ordered their Signature Hainanese Tea with Espresso, Kaya Butter Toast, Prawn Noodles and Char Kuey Teow. If you look at their menu, the food prices are reasonable comparing with similar style kopitiam in Malaysia.

The Signature Hainanese Tea with Espresso is pretty unique. It is the usual ‘yin yong’ with the smooth taste of the tea and hints of the coffee. It taste more to the tea rather than coffee.

thong kee cafe kaya butter toast

Their version of Kaya Butter toast is satisfying. The bread is toast to perfection and it comes with lots of kaya and butter. This is the right way of doing food business, offering value for customers and they will come back for more.

thong kee cafe prawn noodles

Their version of prawn noodles are unique. This ‘dry version’ comes with strong prawn flavor with acidic after taste of the lime. The noodles are smooth and this version surprisingly very tasty.

The Char Kuey Teow looks really good but missing ‘cockles’ or ‘siham’. It comes with generous amount of prawns and fish cakes, the kuey teow is stir fried with enough ‘wok hei’ / wok heat that keeps you eating for more.

Overall, our trip to Thong Kee Café Taman Connaught Cheras is worth it. The food here are good, generous in portion with reasonable pricing. We will definitely come back to Thong Kee Café in the future.
